Interior Designers Favorite White Paint Colors!
I am often asked about the best white paint colors to use so clearly this is a hot topic. But isn’t white paint basically the same…how important is the right shade?
If you ask me…
It’s important to take your time. You’ll find when you view samples on the wall, each white varies in its undertones and temperature. The search can be daunting.
But instead of becoming overwhelmed, maybe make it an adventure. (Yes, an adventure. It’s all perspective, and I choose to believe there is a just right white for your space out there, waiting to be discovered by you. And yes, I may be supremely caffeinated. I blame my delicious energy bars!)
The lighting, objects, and decor style in your space are all factors to consider when choosing a shade of white.

Favorite White Paint Colors: Greet Lefèvre
Her designs and her own home take my breath away, so it’s always a treat to hear inside information about paint colors this designer favors.
“It is hard to name a favorite white! Using the right color of white is dependent upon the room that has to be painted. Is it a small or a large room? Is there a lot of light coming in or not? Another factor….fabrics to be used in the room for curtains and upholstery. But I often turn to FARROW & BALL Pointing White or White Tie.” – Greet Lefèvre of Lefèvre Interiors & author Belgian Pearls

Favorite White Paint Color: Megan Pflug
Such a keen eye and natural flair for chic! I love being surprised by the lovely work of interior designer Megan Pflug.
“My favorite “white” wall color is Farrow and ball Ammonite. It is a fantastic changeable color. It looks more like a stone material than a flat wall color. Its a great alternative to a standard white.” – Megan Pflug
Favorite White Paint Color: Amy Chalmers of Maison Decor
Her charming French country home appeared in my current favorite country decor book I mentioned here, and her keen sense of color can be trusted.
Amy Chalmers authors the fabulous blog Maison Decor and inspires us with her ever-evolving creative career in design.

Is almond white a good colour for your kitchen and sitting room finding it hard to make a decision on it
It very well could work – but do buy a sample pot first and live with it on the wall for a few days so you can see how it works with your unique lighting conditions. 🙂
Help, My kitchen cabinets are White Heron and my island is Hale Navy. I have an open concept living room/kitchen. I don’t know whether I should paint the whole space White Heron? Also using a different finish for the trim
If you love White Heron and want a very tonal look, you certainly can use that color for walls. Painting the space the same color will unify it which you likely want to do. An alternative would be to use Whiter Heron at a different saturation, say 50%. You can start with a sample of it mixed at 50%. The only way you can really know if you’ll like the walls is to put a good sized swath on a wall and watch it in different light through the day. This sampling step may feel like a pain (it always annoys me and slows me down so much!) but it’s an investment that you’ll be living with for a long time so don’t skip it. If you feel like you want a little but not a lot of contrast with cabinets, you can use the lighter paint color on the same swatch as White Heron. Hope this helps.
