5 Fixer Upper Paint Colors & 25 Decorating Ideas will appeal to design fans of Joanna Gaines who are ready to bring some of the farmhouse decor flavor of Fixer Upper into their own nest. Best of all, the ideas shared here are friendly-priced as well, so you won’t have to sell the children to snag the look.
5 Fixer Upper Paint Colors & 25 Decorating Ideas
To find a heap of inspiration, how-to’s and recipes, as well as news about the Fixer Upper television show, you’ll find lots of goodness HERE on Magnolia. However, I receive tons of email asking about specific sources for colors and decor seen in specific episodes.
Sources for Fixer Upper Decor
It seems everyone has their favorite episode, and certain folks obsess over design details, watching the show repeatedly as well as pausing it and studying scenes and vignettes before going online for sources. When I have done my own research, digging into the comment section, looking for discussion forums online, and sending emails – it has been quite a challenge.
Visiting Magnolia Market for Inspiration & Research
I even traveled to Waco to become more familiar with Magnolia Market, the Silos, the Bakery and Magnolia Table, as well as the Gaines farmhouse (see me driving by HERE). I wanted to see paint colors (interior and exterior) up close as well as research decor items in person.
Fixer Upper Sources from Show
Why are so many specific resources and paint color names from renovations on the show protected? Maybe since each project is custom and personalized for each family spotlighted. On the show, the Gaines duo are creating dream homes for real people, not little model homes to copy. Additionally, the mysteries swirling about THAT awesome light grey paint color or THAT chandelier are what keep folks re-viewing episodes and stirring interest!
These paint color ideas are best guesses and also hail from info shared by HGTV, my viewing of the show, and my design experience with white paints and neutral tones. Decorating ideas which follow are also inspired by the common farmhouse style country decor elements which spring up in the staged Fixer Upper reveals, again and again.

5 Fixer Upper Paint Colors
If you have ever watched Chip and Joanna Gaines transform homes in Waco in episodes of HGTV’s Fixer Upper and wondered about the names of paint colors or sources of the decor, then you’re not alone!
Creamy Warm White Paint Colors
VALSPAR Honeymilk 7003-4
According to HGTV, this is a Fixer Upper inspired creamy white. Honeymilk is perfect when you want a subtle, soft white with a hint of beige.
This repurposed headboard/footboard bench was painted Honeymilk by Sweet Pickins Furniture.
The lighter color in this stripe on a bathroom wall is also Honeymilk:
SHERWIN WILLIAMS Dover White 6385
This warm and versatile color is indicative of the whites we see in multiple Fixer Upper projects. I became familiar with Dover White after learning it’s the white paint the Napiers (of HGTV’s Hometown series) used a few years back on the interiors in their 1925 craftsman cottage in Mississippi.
SHERWIN WILLIAMS Alabaster 7008
Alabaster is another white HGTV recommends for achieving the same mood Joanna Gaines creates for so many of their renovations on Fixer Upper.
Light Blue Grey Paint Colors
If you watch the show, you know the starring role light grey paint color plays, renovation after renovation! Which grey paint can you try to emulate what you have seen on Fixer Upper?
FARROW & BALL Parma Gray No. 27
According to F&B, this cool mid blue with grey undertones “can feel quite formal when contrasted with a bright white” and Parma Gray is favored by those “who prefer a clean and crisp finish. “
FARROW & BALL Pavilion Gray No. 242
Originally created for a bespoke pavilion, Farrow & Ball reports Pavilion Gray is also reminiscent of an elegant 18th century Swedish color. You may also recall how the color of the trim inside and out as well as the accent color at Patina Farm is a very close cousin to this tone.
25 Decorating Ideas to Get the Look of Joanna Gaines & Fixer Upper
No. 1: Shiplap!
While the older homes renovated in Waco on the show often come with original shiplap under drywall, you can install new shiplap relatively painlessly. While we didn’t opt for traditional shiplap, we covered a wall in our master bedroom with reclaimed pine planks from Stikwood. See that project HERE and find the product (Hamptons White – Stikwood) we used HERE.
