Bathroom Vanity Design Ideas to Inspire Now
My Own Bathroom Vanities
We opted for two individual vanities and then created a bridge as a makeup area.
I liked how the angles of the vanity’s marble top and base echoed the other angles in the space we created in our DIY bathroom design.
I also liked the base molding of the vanity cabinets since it helps the pieces feel more like furniture.
One thing I miss about our former bathroom is drawers for storage…I have zero now! Without drawers, it becomes necessary to get creative, and here are some handy organization finds that just may be the ticket:
To Hold Light Items on Inside of Cabinet Door
Clear Bins to Store Like Items
Slide Out Baskets
Dark Painted Wood Vanities
Like high contrast with the vanity and marble top?
Aren’t these sconces amazing?
What a bonus when natural light floods your bath, and have you ever seen lamps in lieu of wall sconces?
This spa-like bath in a friend’s house is such a smart mix of modern and traditional.
Before we painted this vanity, it was a 20 year old builder-grade oak vanity with orange stain.
This paint color (above) is an interesting charcoal color that has both brown and navy blue undertones. In some lighting, it looks like oil rubbed bronze, and in others, a soft black.
Repurposed Antiques for a Traditional Vanity
Another vanity with a lamp! So gorgeous!
Here’s a unique attic bath with a repurposed cabinet:
Do you like vessel sinks like these?
I haven’t ever lived with wall mount faucets, have you?
Jenna Sue’s gorgeous bath below features such a gorgeous warm paint color that is very NOW…check out THIS for 2022 calm colors like to consider.
French Country & Old World Vanity Inspiration
Need an idea for a white paint color?
This gorgeous wood toned vanity looks like it may be custom and a shallower depth than the standard 24″.
An otherwise boring bath may get a boost with a pretty new wall color. See this for pink paint color ideas.
Sometimes we forget that there are many options beyond a simple stain or paint color for bathroom vanities. Just look at the custom finish possible:
Coastal Style Bath Vanity Ideas
If you love coastal style and colors, here’s a bath with neutrals and a light grey vanity:
It’s not just expensive European antiques that make wonderful bath vanities…
Even a simple vintage chest like the one Sarah Richardson found for a cottage (above) can be repurposed add custom style. Readymade examples are plentiful in the marketplace too:
Modern French Country Inspiration
Rustic Farmhouse Bathroom Inspo
Remember when we had no choices whatsoever for a bathroom sink?
And no need to settle for a sheet of mirror glued to the wall above it.
If you have never painted cabinets before, maybe consider starting with a small project like a vanity (or start with a cast off piece of furniture before graduating to a vanity).
Green is definitely a popular color for the 2020s:
Here are a few more possibilities:
Bath Vanities in Our Bath Were Budget Friendly
When we tackled our master bath above, we first demo’d everything to begin from scratch. I wanted budget friendly traditional white vanity sets with simple clean lines.
In lieu of a long double sink bathroom vanity, a custom makeup counter joins two separate single vanities.
Our DIY bathroom project truly is a mix of high and low. In fact, I think I paid as much for the faucets as the vanities.
Modern Farmhouse Vanity Inspiration
This mirror is a FAVORITE among famous designers…if it’s in stock, snag it!
Here it is in Sarah Richardson’s daughter’s bedroom.

You just made my morning. Thank you for taking the time to let me know – so happy you’re here. 🙂
We’re in the middle of a powder bath and laundry room renovation. And, least I forget, The Hallway of Doors.
3 spaces in 126 sq feet. There are almost as many decisions to make as when we redid our kitchen a few years back!
We have to use a wall mount faucet as the sink I purchased years ago (like maybe 20) at a bargain price from our design center is quite large. The mirror is from a barn sale and very old and the dresser to become a vanity I found at a reuse shop. My hardest decision is the mixing of wood and paint. And finding a plumber, thats another story!

I’m so happy to hear from a sister in renovation since we’re in it with all its challenges! And thank you for mentioning the hallway of doors! We are encountering space after space bursting with clunky factor and doors so I get it. I have learned that it’s rare to get the paint color right on the first try. Sometimes I’ll have to paint a whole wall to know. As far as the mix, I don’t ever have the full vision of a space cemented in my mind or on paper. I hold things loosely as I go, tweaking, pivoting, and layering until it feels right. When things don’t feel right, I try to determine what is not flowing or meshing and adjust. Finding a plumber? Oy. Prayer is always an option. 🙂
Hi,
The use of a vintage dresser as a bathroom vanity is such a unique and creative idea. I can’t wait to try it out in my own bathroom remodel. Thanks for sharing useful information with us.
