Plaster or Plaster Look Walls
French antiques, plaster, and Old World style sing in this showstopping modern functioning kitchen with finishes by Segreto.
From SEGRETO impressions (2019) by Leslie Sinclair. Designer: MoL Design – Architect: Charles W. Ligon – Builder: Kristal Construction – Photographer: Wade Blissard.
To achieve the look of Venetian plaster with an alternative material, the Giannettis opted to coat the walls of their new build with a thin layer of Cal-Kote. No painting over it was required.

Can your heart possibly make room for a wee more beauty?
If so, meet sweet, 80+-years young, Ampan. She has lived 10 years past the typical lifespan for her kind. Blind in one eye and precious little sight remaining in the other, imagine her joy as she is serenaded! Clair de Lune is an all-time favorite composition of mine…enjoy this bit of heaven on earth.

I always look forward to seeing your newsletter in my mailbox! Well, I am just finishing up all the details of our remodel which will begin on January 2nd. I was able to find the mosaic marble tile at Lowe’s … thank you for sharing their whereabouts. Can you help on this lighting detail? Is there a set rule for the finishes of lighting? We will have stainless steel appliances with polished nickel faucet and cabinet door handles/pulls. I loved to have antiqued brass pendant lights (seeded or clear glass) but wonder if that is too jumbled. As an Aquarian, I don’t really follow too many rules (fashion, decorating, style) but these lights are bugging me. T
Hi Theresa! It’s wonderful to have you here. How exciting to start 2020 with these lovely updates! I don’t think there are rules about mixing metals, but I tend to play it safe with lighting in the kitchen. In ours I mixed an antiqued silver light with stainless hardware (but there’s also a bronze floor lamp). I’m also not afraid of tweaking finishes when they aren’t quite right. So for example, if I chose a pendant I loved but the finish did not look harmonious once installed, I might change the finish with paint myself. I have done this quite a few times over the years! Not sure if that helps. Maybe you could place an antiqued brass object or the pendant itself in the kitchen first and live with it for a few days before installing?
happy new year!!! thanks for all of your support and friendship in 2019! xox
