I clearly am drawn to watery blues, whispery green-blues, and even robin’s egg blue accents. Yet I somehow struggle to work them into interior schemes here at home! The color of sky and sea works so beautifully in coastal cottages, classic traditional rooms, and almost everything in between. Subtle, romantic, feminine, and reminiscent of sea glass and the best faded denim, these blues inspire memories of coastal landscapes and seaside summer vacations. They also feel nostalgic for me personally since my mother adores aqua and dressed us in lots of it. This Swedish antique in a Round Top, Texas farmhouse by Eleanor Cummings comes to mind when I consider the prettiest, weathered, faded blue-green.

I strongly considered Light Blue for our recent kitchen reno but went with a more silvery blue effect. When the sun is shining bright, they appear pale blue!

I love how Desiree stained the trim and doors blue-green-grey. She also chose this option for her prior home. It adds a Nordic French feel, both more interesting and at home with the creamy walls. (The custom shade seems similar to Farrow & Ball’s Pavilion Gray which I just dipped my paintbrush into yesterday!)
