I hope you can tolerate a few more moments from a fun day with my mom and sister, Jo. When we’re together, we sure pack A WHOLE LOTTA festive shenanigans into just 24 hours!
The night before shopped, we picked up matching ‘loungewear’ at Target and decided since everyone asks anyway whether we’re twins, we may as well dress the part. It rained all day so we needed the rain boots.
I shared some of my favorite things from Urban Farmgirl in my last post HERE, and today will spotlight some pretty moments at Trove (2410 Jackson St., Rockford, Illinois), where some dapper brothers in plaid rule the roost!
Alastair & Angus Greeting the Fairy
Trove is a charming shop with vintage whimsy located smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood of older homes. The owners are sisters who frequented the shop when it was a candy store in the ’70s!
How fun that it was re-styled since I visited a few weeks ago!

Favorite Christmas Song
I simply cannot choose just one. I mean. As far as secular ones…this one!
But I will never tire of this one – it instantly takes me back in time to a simpler era when I was in graduate school!
As far as holy Christmas songs go, this one performed by this artist is at the top of my list…
But how can you not choose THIS one, one of the more difficult songs to perform vocally and also challenging to bring something new to it!?!
I’m a huge fan of gospel choirs so that early Mariah version blesses me big time!

Wishing you a lovely, blessed Christmas with your family. Fun posts with your sister and mother…you are all lovely gals. Christmas music around our home is dominated by Manheim Steamroller’s amazing sound. Their version of Silent Night still brings tears to my eyes. And, I love some of the classic oldies, too; Nat King Cole , Andy Williams, choirs singing the traditional songs. Thank you for a year of charming photos, inspired writing and the gift of your generous spirit woven into each post. Wishing you strong health in this new year along with even more adventure!

So grateful for your loyal readership and flow of beauty and love into this little space on the web. Thank you for your encouragement, your wisdom, your kindness, and your spirit-filled words of love which reach me just when I need them. I haven’t listened to Manheim Steamroller in years! Thanks for that reminder. And Nat King Cole…oh, yes! Merry Christmas to you and yours – may peace surround you and the spirit of Emmanuel infuse your atmosphere with comfort and the reassurance HE is with us! xox

Merci & Merry Christmas to you! 🙂
I like Kenny G, Enya and Lorena McKennitt Christmas albums. Celine Dion and Josh Groban are on repeat as is Michael Buble. But my favourite music for Christmas morning is Bing. Old fashioned Christmas tunes that bring back many happy memories.
Those Westies in plaid are so cute! Everyone should be able to take their dog to work. They are calming, for the most part and put a smile on your face.
You and your sister, Jo, are darling. What fun to don your pjs and gad about town. I bet you inspired smiles and laughter as you shopped. Isn’t that what we all set out to do?
Blessings from beautiful British Columbia,
~Joanna
