Get the Look! Sarah Richardson {Master Bedroom Suite}
Sarah’s master bedroom suite has a modern yet traditional Scandinavian vibe with calm, soothing details, perfect for relaxing at the end or beginning of the day. The master bedroom and master bath spaces contain a plethora of fresh ideas; from the traditional canopy above the bed to the modern concrete with gold leaf lamps. I love how Sarah designed elegant yet simple panels in the bedroom which add formality and architectural interest without a lot of weight or masculinity. You could even get a similar look with paint alone as seen in country homes or farmhouses throughout Scandinavia from years gone by. There’s no cozy little woodstove in here like the kitchen, sunroom, and media room, but there is a beautiful fireplace in an adjoining sitting room with a writing desk and conversation area.
Master Suite
The sitting room area is accessed through double doors and features a TV–a great option for when you don’t want a TV directly in the bedroom and to avoid bothering your sleeping partner. The space’s board and batten paneling is charming, and the room’s sofa and accent chairs encourage intimate conversations and comfortable seating. The fireplace is situated so it can be viewed through the double doors from the bed. The master bathroom is spa-like and as luxurious as you might imagine with marble, double shower heads, and sleek frameless glass shower doors. I love that in Sarah’s design she left space near the freestanding bathtub for a lovely upholstered chair.

Where can I get that beautiful rug?

I’ll look into it, Eileen. Thanks for reading! 🙂
So soothing! I am pinning ideas/dreams for our not-so-distant downsizing/hopeful retirement home. I want it to be light-filled and cozy and serene. Sarah’s aesthetic has always appealed to me– but her spaces are a little grander-sized than mine will be! Still, I can borrow many ideas. 🙂 Thanks for posting!

Great point, Lisa, and so true–sometimes it’s simply the color palette or a few key pieces and not the square footage. 😉
Her suite is so sophisticated and relaxing in its color palette. Thanks for the shopping guide! xoxo

They are coming soon. I have to do the time consuming research so stay tuned. 🙂
The master bedroom rug is not listed…. do you know where to get the rug?
Author
I have not yet found a source for it. It reminds me of the Dash & Albert rugs she often incorporates but I didn’t find it there. Maybe custom? I’ll keep searching and circle back here if I find it. Thanks for reading, Maria.
Rug source please?

I have yet to track it down, but it certainly appears to be from Dash and Albert which you can find here: http://shrsl.com/zfgv. Happy hunting and shopping, and thanks for reading! 🙂

Hi Larry. It appears they added trim (maybe chair rail molding like these options: https://rstyle.me/+O0nOAVCyvgSGTnYGWlRWQw) over the drywall to create faux panels. I like the look when it is painted the same color. We covered an entire wall of a bedroom in our Arizona home with simple pine molding and painted it all out in the same color and loved the architectural interest it added for so little money.
