Sarah Richardson’s latest project: an off-the-grid house in Ontario has charming modern country design with elements of cottage, farmhouse, and traditional style. With so many decorating ideas within Sarah’s house, we have been exploring its home decor room by room. Today, I’m thrilled to share more home decor sources…this time for a yellow bunk room with shiplap walls, woven rockers, and modern light fixtures.
I admire how Sarah puts a fresh spin on traditional, classic interior design, and in this bunk room, she combines yellow wallpaper and Scandinavian style.
Sarah used shiplap walls for architectural interest and limited the color palette to yellow, white, and robin’s egg blue. Sarah is a master of creating happy rooms, and this bunk room seems perfect for sleepovers or visiting young guests. A couple of Hello Lovely readers expressed concern about the lack of a safety rail on the top bunks, and I’m guessing it was removed for the styling of the room or is not visible since it is recessed.
The bunk room bedroom Sarah designed for her off-the-grid home in Ontario has design elements you may wish to incorporate into your own interiors. (See more of Sarah Richardson’s off the grid home beginning here.)
Let’s explore Sarah Richardson’s yellow bunk room in her off the grid Ontario house. You will find links to the exact home decor for items used in the room as well as a few options in the same spirit. I hunted them down, checking all the resource guides I could find on Sarah’s site and HGTV Canada (which were not up to date or even accurate in many cases) and then cross-checking and powershopping on my own. At the end of the post, you’ll find a resource guide for almost everything you see here.

Hello Michele This is fabulous. So many ideas. My next home will be to ‘downsize’ and I have been thinking of how I would still have room to invite my friends and family. LOVE the double bunk with the single over. Perfect solution for couple with a child. Any child would love this room for sleepovers. Sending Love, health and happiness to you and yours for Christmas and the New Year. Susan xx
