A Lutyens Style Timeless Designer Showhouse Won’t Fall from Favor

Clearly I’m biased about my shelter mags. The birth of MILIEU corresponds to a challenging period of intense upheaval in my personal life so it remains a beacon of inspiration for what is possible with great taste and great love. Imagine this dream house’s unveiling during the pandemic when we were all veiling our faces! The virus prevented me from touring Milieu magazine’s 2020 designer showhouse (benefitting Clayton Dabney for Kids With Cancer), but for me, revisiting the sophisticated masterpiece cures my disappointment.

Someone wise and deeply blessed purchased the 5-bedroom, 8-bath Edwin Lutyens-style house at 3736 DEL MONTE DRIVE.

Oui-oui, imagine calling this Houston house (with rooms designed by COSMIC OUT OF THIS WORLD design stars) home!

Located in Houston’s historic River Oaks neighborhood, the Showhouse was constructed by custom homebuilder, Jennifer Hamelet of Mirador Builders.

Pamela Pierce’s Sublime Ensemble of Creatives

Under the direction of MILIEU’s Pamela Pierce, a talented team of distinguished interior designers from across the United States, Canada, and Europe transformed the house with a fresh, sophisticated aesthetic reflective of Houston’s richly layered design sensibilities.

Upstairs at the Showhouse

You’ll find a primary suite upstairs with fireplace, coffee bar, and separate baths with bespoke dressing rooms.

Also upstairs are four guest suites in addition to a game room.

Oh the floor by Segreto Finishes!

Can we even get over the beauty of the refined fabrics and distinctive treatments for bedding? No, we cannot.

While the staircase (below) is beyond gorgeous, the option of an elevator awaits.

Do you also admire the tree of life references so plentiful in here?

Kathryn Ireland’s billowy cloudlike bedroom is calling my name:

Yet I can imagine retreating to this patterned paradise as well.

The options for “retreat” are endless, and while I am not known to be “gamesy,” I might make an exception here:

Were this my home, this is the space I can imagine placing my piano–at that wall of windows…what epic songwriting might it inspire?
