This year at Christmastime, I’m in the desert and far from the white snow blanketing our prairie acres. The rooms here are pale and layered with white, but there is precious little white outdoors. In central Arizona, blue skies linger and white cotton won’t bloom for seven more months. That won’t stop me from holding on to the magic of WHITE CHRISTMAS. Let’s consider winter whites to wear, interiors with white/beige/neutrals, and ideas to capture the spirit. Silly tweets are weaved through it all (we need not take any of this too seriously…Christmas calls for child-like wonder).

Wondrous Winter Whites & Calm Surroundings
Little White Houses for You and Me
Little white houses for the holidays to keep you company all winter long?
Little white roses can join them too.
Imagine the possibilities when evergreens and bits of warm metal join the mix.

Whites to Wear
This seems so wearable:
Like wearing warm whites in winter? I love pairing brighter whites with cream so I’d pull on a cool white turtleneck with the button-down above then add a cableknit scarf.

Cozy Winter Whites & Lovely Neutrals
Nubby, fleecy, sherpa, Teddy, fuzzy wuzzy everything still seems to be a thing for some of us.
And maybe it will be with us forever since textures?
They are key for tonal environments.
We tend to overthink cozy sometimes.
Little fairy light strings and votives sprinkled here and there can have remarkable payoff with little effort.

Just when I think I have enough Capri Blue candles (how how how can you beat Anthropologie store fragrance!?!), I see this design for the jar:
Am I the only one who thinks this tweet below is hilarious?

Winter White Sweaters & Cozy Pieces
Thank goodness there are still cardigans with coverage in the marketplace! I was beginning to think cropped boxy silhouettes had rendered lengthening sweaters obsolete.
Discussions about how fashion trends affect interior design are plentiful online, but do we ever reverse the influence?
Could we consider inspiring vignettes and interiors then apply the intelligence to our wardrobe? If I wanted to wear this understated modern country moment above…

maybe this luxurious hoodie above with these:
and a bag in this natural hue:

It’s a fun exercise. 🙂
Interiors, Apparel, and Pretty Winter White Accessories
I have seen my share of gauzy blankets throws, and here’s a serene and understated option:

The only challenge is choosing between the neutral colorways. The Cafe Au Lait looks perfect…

But the more oatmeal-hued FLAX color is also lovely:
Which do you prefer?
Not sure whether Jenni Kayne is old news for you, but once you taste the quality and craftsmanship this brand offers with its investment pieces, it’s easy to admire.
I’m always in awe of the designs from Marie Flanigan Interiors, and somehow she layers whites, neutrals, and luxe finishes with cozy factor. Notice this bath tub nook area with the delicious whitewashed wood!
Isn’t it an amazing study of mixing whites harmoniously and elegantly?
Silly Tweets to Pin
Ever feel ancient when “20 years ago” is tossed around in conversation? Immediately I do the math in my head and feel momentarily stunned since 2004 feels like yesterday. I remember perfectly well what was happening at the time! But that’s not even the most annoying part. It’s all the mental math I seem to calculate daily. When did time because such a constant pest?

From the 1900s!!!! LOL.
This rug would work in so many settings:

Natural jute feels just right in every season.

Whites in Winter
There’s something nostalgic for me about shaggy or fuzzy sweaters and jackets. They remind me of pieces worn as a child of the 70s.
Would you feel compelled to add red ribbon to a a timeless holiday moment such as this?

If you’re looking for a gorgeous ivory glass candle with a jar to repurpose or re-use forever, check out the options at Jenni Kayne. I love all of her scents, and the ivory feels sophisticated.
I showed you this garland last year which is no longer available, and I’m still toying with the idea of a DIY version.
Isn’t it special? One could re-use it every year without the trouble of needles left behind! Psst. Is this shade of cool blue also perfect to mix with winter whites?
Sweet Tweets & White Paint Colors to Consider
This photo made me smile!

I’m ever collecting ideas for white bedrooms to make them cozier. The trick is, preserving the serenity and spare vibe…

Bedroom Furniture Paint Colors
When we moved to the Georgian, I painted our bedroom furniture a warmer white. It was actually the fourth white I painted these pieces! The factory finish was antique yellowy-white in 2004, and it stayed that way until 2015 when I painted it BM Revere Pewter.

The next time I painted it SW Agreeable Gray at 50% before landing on a bright white wash (sort of a striated effect) on top.
In this case, 50% saturation simply means, I mixed 1/2 Agreeable Gray and 1/2 of a bright white I had on hand. Below, you can see how the Revere Pewter on the drawers is much warmer than the new color on the dresser top:

Turns out, it was a bit too cold with the wall color for my taste after living with it for a year.

Good gracious, is the 4th shade the charm? So far, so good! I went with SW Eider White.
Much better.

Eider White is the wall color in our kitchen:
It’s similar to the color you see in this AI designed kitchen:

Do You Wear White in Winter?
No wintry white post would be complete without something from UGG. I owe much to this brand. Their boots and cozy things warm my fall and winter.

Thanks for playing along today!

And just in case you imagine ivory and serene white interior schemes to be exclusively informal and contemporary…

So elegant, it hurts!

Happy holidays, friends!
Peace to you right where you are.
