It’s a sunny yet crisp day here at home where I’m prepping for Thanksgiving dinner. Even though I’ll inevitably have to leave the house to pick up forgotten ingredients for the holiday, just now the calm is lovely. Let’s enjoy these winter whites to wear, interiors with white/beige/neutrals and ideas to capture the spirit. I have also weaved in tweets for laughter in case you could use some (the holidays can steal joy as well as add it).

Lovely Winter Whites & Calm Moods
I keep forgetting Anthropologie is a source for some wonderful things for home!
Don’t you love little white houses for the holidays and all winter long?
This warm white kitchen above caught my eye, and I have noticed my FB audience has fallen out of love with ai designs and specifically the eery, moodier varieties. What say ye about their place?
Do you suppose there will come a day when folks will live in white boxes where images of ideal spaces will be projected on the walls? Hahahaha. Nothing surprises us any longer.
This seems so wearable:
Like wearing warm whites in winter? I love ’em, and since I love bright white with cream, a white turtleneck under the duster would be perfect. Add a cableknit scarf!
Cozy Winter Whites & Lovely Neutrals
Nubby, fleecy, sherpa, Teddy, fuzzy wuzzy everything still seems to be a thing for some of us.
And maybe it will be with us forever since textures?
They are key for tonal environments.
We tend to overthink cozy sometimes.
Little fairy light strings and votives sprinkled here and there can have remarkable payoff with little effort.
And just when I think I have enough Capri Blue candles (how how how can you beat that Anthropologie store fragrance!?!), I see this faceted design for the jar:
Am I the only one who thinks this tweet below is hilarious?
Winter White Sweaters & Cozy Pieces
Thank goodness there are still long cardigans in the marketplace! I was beginning to think the cropped boxy silhouette had taken over and would render lengthy sweaters obsolete.
It is easy to find discussions about how fashion trends affect interior design, but do we ever look at interiors and try to apply it to our wardrobe? Because I think we could come up with some interesting ensembles by noticing what works in a given vignette:
Interiors, Apparel, and Pretty Winter White Accessories
I have seen plenty of gauzy throws, but here’s a quilt that feels serene and understated:
Not sure Jenni Kayne is new to you, but once you discover how committed to quality and craftsmanship this brand is, it’s easy to admire.
I’m blown away by Marie Flanigan Interiors, and look at the cozy factor added to this bath by framing the tub area with this gorgeous whitewashed wood!
Silly Tweets to Pin
I was just discussing with my husband how I feel ancient sometimes when “20 years ago” is tossed around. Immediately I do the math in my head and feel amazed that 2004 feels like yesterday. I can remember perfectly what was happening as if it were yesterday! All the mental math is starting to get on my nerves. 🙂
From the 1900s!!!! LOL. Try not to be distracted by how lovely this model looks in this midi dress that appears to be two pieces but is actually one in order to notice that it actually seems quite wearable for winter occasions. I can imagine it looking pretty at any age, and I have sort of grown tired of those “over 50” posts since I don’t like the idea of limiting anyone. Don’t we need more opportunities to break free rather than create more cages and cut-offs? (Also, I’m pushing 60, still dress essentially as I did in college and prefer not to enter a new era creating ‘over 60’ posts.)
This rug has dazzled me, omg. I am imagining how a room could be designed around it!
There may be more to this post, but I’m gonna have trouble not fixating on that rug! What is wrong with me?
It’s time to get more holiday decorating done, but I am not done enjoying the natural beauty from my yard!
Whites in Winter to Wear & Decorate With
There’s something so nostalgic for me about shaggy or fuzzy sweaters, capes, and jackets. They remind me of pieces I wore as a child and adolescent of the 70s.
Who missed Santa-red in gloriously timeless holiday moments like this?
If you’re looking for a gorgeous ivory glass candle with a jar that can be re-used forever, check out the options at Jenni Kayne. I love all of her scents, and the ivory feels so sophisticated.
I showed you this garland (seems to be discontinued) the other day, but I can’t stop thinking about it which means I’ll have to make it myself.
Isn’t it special? And you could re-use it every year and have no needles left behind! Is this shade of cool blue also perfect for winter?
Sweet Tweets & White Paint Colors to Consider
This photo made me smile!
I’m ever collecting ideas for our bedroom to make it cozier. The trick is, we like the serenity and spare vibe we have going, but it feels as though it needs something.
Bedroom Furniture Paint Colors
Last year, I painted the furniture in the bedroom a warmer white, and that helped a ton. Just so you know, it was the fourth white I painted these pieces! It started out antique yellowy-white in 2004, and it stayed that shade until 2015 when I painted it BM Revere Pewter.
The second shade was SW Agreeable Gray at 50% and the third was a bright white wash (sort of a striated effect) on top.
In this case, 50% saturation simply means, I mixed 1/2 Agreeable Gray and 1/2 of a bright white I had on hand. Below, you can see how the Revere Pewter on the drawers is much warmer than the new color on the dresser top:
Turns out, it was a bit too cold with the wall color for my taste after living with it for a year.
Good gracious, is the 4th shade the charm? So far it is ! I used SW Eider White.
Eider White is the wall color in our kitchen:
It’s similar to the color you see in this AI designed kitchen:
Do You Wear White in Winter?
I’ll share photos when the room is done. No wintry white post would be complete without something from UGG. I owe so much to this brand. Their boots and cozy things play a starring role in my fall and winter.
Thanks for playing along today!
And just in case you thought ivory and serene white interior schemes were all informal and contemporary…
So elegant, it hurts!
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
Peace to you right where you are.
