Because We’re Holiday Broke: Amazing Finds Under $25 & Funny Quotes!
These lovely finds aren’t just a heap of random links. I took a long look around my house and within online shopping carts to decide what would make the cut.
Just in case you missed this giggle…
If you’re light in the wallet from the holidays yet need random essentials, you’re in business. Christmas cash or gift cards to spend? Bingo! Gifts to buy for loved ones with winter birthdays? (Mine is almost here!) Maybe you’ll be inspired.
1. Wardrobe Accessory
Maybe not for a birthday gift, but just like beautiful decorating, it’s all about the layers.
2. Self-Care Softness
I haven’t bought a body pillow in years, and this 4′ size seems like a less monstrous bedfellow.
Is this my favorite funny quote in the whole bunch? Probably. If you could see my purse bulging with its month’s worth of receipts!!! Renovating a house involves daily trips to big box stores doncha know!
3. Practical Yet Cute
I received an apothecary jar of safety matches as a holiday gift and love it! And since green is everywhere this year…
Is your sleep schedule on track after the holidaze? Working on mine over here because I still can’t seem to sleep past 5 a.m. no matter when I hit the hay. And staying up late is never a good idea for this blogger because…cravings. Blueberry waffles at midnight last night inspired bizarre dreams still weirding out my mood this morning!
4. These Lights are Gamechangers at $10 a Pop
I wanted a quick light changeout for some hallway lights at the new house (you know the infamous boob light builder special?). Since I didn’t want anything decorative, I searched for something to disappear into the ceiling.
We have installed our fair share of recessed lighting, and CANS ARE NO FUN unless they are filled with beautiful paint or Diet Coke. So we decided to give canless lights a whirl, and mercy!
Sold.
While I couldn’t find the exact brand I bought, these look identical.
If you need minimal utilitarian lights inside or out, we still love using these:
5. Alternative to Plastic
Sustainable materials, organic, and good looking? Yes, please.
Am I the only one who gets a kick out of voice activated text message goofs?
6. Turkish Towels!
So versatile and a way to easily refresh a bath.
7. Natural Texture for Tablescapes
Lately I have been keeping the dining room table set and actually changing the tablescape now and then.* #sheisnotnearlyasboringasheradmissionsuggests
*Yes, things have come to this when you’re mostly sheltering at home with immunity issues to avoid the latest variant and tweaking little things round the nest as a mood enhancer since being plugged in 24-7 can make one feel even more disconnected and bitter about the lack of vacations spent in chef-inclusive Mexican villas.
8. Fuzzy Wuzzy Under 20
For no good reason…
and pair it with this loveliness:
9. Time to Get Organized!
10. Elevate Pizza Night
Times are tough. Pizza is still awesome.
11. Not Just for the Holidays
Get your twinkle on all winter long, friends. These strings of light are a fairy’s secret weapon for creating MAGIC in the midst of MORE bad news or a polar vortex or short as frack days where you blink and it’s dark outside again.
12. Why Do These Seem Like the Best Organization Thing Ever?
January must be THE month to nest and organize because all sorts of stuff I never knew would keep me more orderly appear on my radar. These with their little dotty goodness, for example.
13. Luxuriously Stow on a Counter
What would I do without my marble receptacles for wooden spoons, kitchen shears, and even the occasional potted plant? I hope I’ll never have to know!
14. Highly Recommend…Been Referencing This for Decades!
I can’t write enough lovely words about Patricia Wells and her beautiful food.
15. Our is in the Garage
I am more of a boot and fuzzy slipper person than a shoe fiend, but doesn’t it feel good to get them in a row instead of scattered about?
16. For On the Go Types
Sometimes the best thing my blender does for me is serve as a reminder to put healthy, nutrient-dense deliciousness in it to consume.
17. Because We Need These in Our Lives
18. Crystal Clear & I Use ‘Em Everyday
I am still finding new uses for my wee-sized, minimal tumblers which make the perfect little dish for parfaits, dessert (goodness gracious, people love it when you serve them a mini-size dessert that is visually splendid), and even a floating votive candle.
19. The Possibilities Are ‘Bout to Blow Yer Mind
Is January also the month for contact paper hacks? I’m callin’ it.
Just where I am today, I have some feelings about this whimsical quote I have shared before:
I find myself moving toward a place where I don’t think I aspire to be someone’s glass of champagne or cup of tea. So much of my life was spent hustling and proving my worth as champagne as I sought the affections of others.
Seeing the champagne and the beauty of effervescence in others and myself as we age imperfectly, dwelling less on how I am perceived or slighted, bringing water to the thirsty, now those things feel more honorable.
20. Still My Favorite Book. Buy it for You. Buy More for Gifts!
21. I Have a Glass Jar Hoarding Problem
This post is beginning to feel like a confessional sort of hit and run, but I see no reason to stop. If you visit our home, you’ll see masses of clear glass jars from consumed pickles, salsa, olives, etc. I use them for everything under the sun. Air-tight bamboo lids? Oh, my. Can you see them lined up on a pantry shelf or awaiting inside a cupboard? Because some of us get our jingles tingled over such simplicity.
22. Better Buy Multiples…Your Family Members Will Steal It!!!
Just the best gift for you or them.
23. Natural & Necessary Away from the Salon
My roots need a touch-up so I need to book an appointment, and if you find yourself more of a DIYer these days for beauty…
When I came up with my silly Proverb at the dawn of the pandemic, I thought it would somehow go viral and propel me to INSTA-GLORY. Nope. It takes a particular warped point of view mixed with a sweet tooth and colored history of weekly Bible study to appreciate such *ahem* genius.
24. Can’t Live Without Mine!
In case you were wondering, I still love them as much as when first I discovered ’em. (Truth be told, I think slipcovers should be created for even more things. When you’re past a certain age and no longer ecstatically slipping rosy cherubic infants into onesies, there’s still slipcovers. #onesiesforeverythingplease)
25. Low Cost Way to Transform a Wall
It took ten hours, but I still love my French script wall in an extra bedroom – get the details HERE.

You truly are one of the funniest people! Love the quotes you pick out to share & your originals! I LOL @ the potato masher one & the sniffums one! We are two peas in pod…I also keep glass jars of all types but only if the labels wash off easily! Haha! And I think I’m gonna have to order that elevated pizza stand… so many uses! And the fairy lights…they just make everything more festive! Loved Vanessa’s tour of her home… so fun & cheerful… the one line portraits on wall by her pool…so cool! Love the unique!

Keepin it real and trying to laugh as much as possible considering things are so chaotic and in flux here! And the headaches of renovation…Lord have mercy, we hope to live through them again. Here is my tip for stubborn labels glued to jars, after soaking in hot water, I’ll often use a vegetable peeler rather than my short weak nails to remove the sticky paper. Hope this helps!
