The Hampton Social, Fashion Over 50 Finds, Quotes & Life Lately
My sister Jo treated me to a delicious brunch at The Hampton Social, and things nearly felt like old, pre-pandemic times. It felt so good to pull together a fun outfit and dine with girlfriends in an atmosphere of laid back coastal chic.
There’s a cute banquette near the entrance for selfies and lounging.
I independently selected products in this post—if you buy from one of my links, I may earn a commission.
I wore my favorite vintage faded denim jacket to dress down a blue midi dress from Anthropologie and statement jewelry. Here’s a similar jacket:
And how fabulous are these beads!?!

Fashion Over 50: Gold Accessories
While my pretty, ethereal niece rocking trendy quiet neutrals is nowhere near 50, we can steal a few accessory ideas from her.
While my own necklace and earrings are vintage, you can still find pieces HERE. I love the turquoise with denim for a beachy look.
This tank style dress from J. Crew would also be cute with a white denim jacket or a crisp white shirt knotted at the waist.
J. Crew always does a stellar job with their statement necklaces, and this one works with the dress above or a simple white tee.
For a more subdued blue, this timeless, well-constructed dress could be dressed up or down.
If rosier tones float yer boat, here’s a gorgeous find along with optional variations of the Wynne dress and Fruit Salad necklace above.
What to Make for Dinner
If ever you feel stuck about what to make for dinner, do check out the online menu of your favorite eateries. After seeing this glorious caesar salad and grilled salmon, I whipped up my own last night – so easy and quick as a light dinner.
The fried chicken stack is Jo’s favorite at The Hampton Social, and this could also be your brunchy dinner made at home…why not?
While my diet doesn’t allow for fried donut bites, they looked yummy, and my companions highly approve.
Can’t wait to return to The Hampton Social!

New to Me Clean Beauty Find: OGEE
I think I may love beautiful makeup more than the average bear and never tire of trying new ideas for my favorite look: dewy and fresh. While I tend to easily get intimidated by contouring, this gorgeous trio from OGEE simplifies everything. A wee smudge of Copper in cheek hollows, a gentle schmear of Rose on the apples, and a tender swath of Opal on cheekbones…shazam. The versatile tones of these sticks work well on eyes too.
Pssst. These aren’t affiliate links for the OGEE – just thought you might want an honest review.
What makes this lovely OGEE collection different from other bullet-style makeup sticks I have tried? Nourishing oils in the formulas my thirsty, over-50 skin appreciates. Products are not only certified organic and cruelty-free, they are also GMO-free and made in the USA.
Can we dish about the packaging? Heavy, but not too heavy, exquisitely white, and those magnetic lids are a gamechanger, mama.
While I’m busier than ever with work, I’m happy to report my health is stable, and I’m keeping some weight on these over-50 bones!
Last month, we spent lots of time fixing up the interiors of a tiny house (a sweet suburban bungalow under 600 s.f.) investment property our son is renting from us. Soon we’ll paint the exterior, add shutters, and invest in curb appeal.
Our son is loving tiny house living after several years of living with roommates, and the love of his life, our grand-doggie, Eve, is happy to be done with apartment living. She loves being walked around the lake just down the block and makes friends everywhere she roams.
Our eldest son (who battled a life threatening illness almost a year ago) is loving his home we renovated for him and is a devoted pet parent of a blind kitty he rescued.
We are quite fond of both of these rescues, and they help this granny get the sort of exercise that feels more like joy than work.
God’s grace is ever present as I continue to grow and allow reality to teach me what it means to become the healing I seek. Where would I be without the guiding light deepening my journey even as trials come and there are days of disappointing setbacks? I hope I’ll never have to know. (Love is alive and still stronger than death in case you needed reminding.)
Wherever this finds you…fabulous or fretfully forlorn, do know you are never alone. Reach out and watch me reply.
I’m in need of some restful vacation time, time for under-achieving and under-doing and would love to hear your ideas and plans – do share and leave a comment if you have a moment!
Peace to you right where you are.
