Lovely Rooms Decorated for Christmas
According to lifestyle experts, Christmas 2018 is all about being bold and adventurous.
Many of them predict oversized Christmas tree ornaments and bright colors will be a common sight this holiday season. If dazzling colorful holiday decor sizzles your bacon, consider yourself a snappin trendsetter. It’s even better when you add your own touches and personality to the mix, and you can’t go wrong as long as you’re ringing in the holidays with an open heart and a festive spirit.
To jumpstart your decorating for the holidays, do have a gander at these lovely rooms for Christmas decor inspiration.
Catherine Wilkinson’s white motif design focuses on approachable elegance.
In this dining room above, a white tablecloth serves as a canvas for pops of traditional red and green Christmas colors. To bring balance, begin layering upon a main backdrop. In this case, that backdrop is the warmth of oak hardwoods and the light maple stain of Midcentury Modern chair legs. The tone of the simple kraft paper runner on the table repeats that warm tone.
While an oatmeal hued linen tablecloth is lovely as a base for any colorful holiday tablescape, a canvas dropcloth may also do the trick. White dishes, simple glass mason jars with white willow berries, chic marble candle holders, and tall brass candlesticks (they bring a lovely, delicate, vertical dimension to the Christmas tablescape) are a fabulous simple lovely mix to usher in the holiday ambience and delicious menu.
Traditional & Handsome Christmas Dining Room
Simple & Scandinavian Inspired in My Kitchen
Nordic White Winter Wonderland
This Scandinavian style living room decks the hall with white and gold, and Nordic French decor and vintage pieces add to the charm of the design. The use of tulle – seen on the Christmas tree with fluffy over-sized poufs and streamers – echoes an ethereal Nordic Christmas tradition. (My own Swedish-lovin’ mom was decorating our own Christmas trees with tulle ribbon before most folks even knew the term ‘tulle!!!!’ ).
The Louis chair is proof positive that the back of furniture CAN and should be as beautiful as the front. (Look at the sexy gams on that Frenchie piece!)
Simple silver stars on the Christmas tree and throughout the living room’s decor bring a star theme with subtle sophistication and speak of an important chapter in the traditional Christmas story.

Unforgettable Christmas Fireplace Mantel
A fireplace this grand and gorgeous offers a natural focal point and alternative to decorating the entire space. Note to self: when building or buying next house, add grand and gorgeous fireplace to simplify holiday decorating for eternity! Accentuating the fireplace festively and tastefully yet simply becomes the challenge.
In the living room with built-ins above, greenery and sparkly white lights adorn the fireplace mantel layered with feathers and clear glass pedestal bowls filled with fresh greenery and twigs. While children (young and old) in the house might necessitate Santa figures or whimsical stockings, even these additions could easily join the design.
The Strength of Architectural Details
Richly paneled wood walls and Baroque furniture are timelessly beautiful without any help from the holidays, but may look awkward with randomly chosen Christmas decor. A harmonious effect is created here with metallic gold and silver bursts of lovely reflective color. The addition of candlelight on the fireplace mantel in lieu of twinkly Christmas lights provides stunning illumination with the darkness of the wood in this handsome ambient space. (Find a little more advice from Countrylife about how dim lighting is especially great for living rooms in period properties.)
White and Airy Country White Christmas
Design inspiration from magazine worthy interiors is lovely indeed, but it can never replace the personal touches you bring from your unique style of celebrating the season and expressing your family’s long kept traditions. Filling the space with comfort and joy and bringing on COZY FACTOR has little to do with how much you spend or how many strings of light illumine your nest.
Humble and Pale Christmas Placesetting at My Place
Speaking of strings of light, do you go nuts with decorating the exterior of your home for Christmas? Is home sweet home something other than a single-family home where you must be more mindful about decorating both inside and out? I know residential properties like condos and co-op apartments are generally subject to building regulations and limitations. (In an article comparing co-ops and condos, Yoreevo emphasized that renovations need board approval first if you’re living in a co-op unit. It’s a similar case with condos, as some condo developers don’t allow residents to repaint the walls with another color or use any kind of adhesive.)
