Christmas Decorated Rooms: Simple, Subtle, Serene
According to lifestyle experts, Christmas 2018 is all about being bold and adventurous.
Many of them predict oversized Christmas tree ornaments and bright colors will be a common sight this holiday season. If dazzling colorful holiday decor sizzles your bacon, consider yourself a snappin trendsetter. It’s even better when you add your own touches and personality to the mix, and you can’t go wrong as long as you’re ringing in the holidays with an open heart and a festive spirit.
To jumpstart your decorating for the holidays, do have a gander at these lovely rooms for Christmas decor inspiration.
Catherine Wilkinson’s white motif design focuses on approachable elegance.
In the dining room above, a white tablecloth serves as a canvas for pops of traditional red and green Christmas colors. To bring balance, begin layering upon a main backdrop. In this case, that backdrop is the warmth of oak hardwoods and the light maple stain of Midcentury Modern chair legs. The tone of the simple kraft paper runner on the table repeats that warm tone.
While an oatmeal hued linen tablecloth is lovely as a base for any colorful holiday tablescape, a canvas dropcloth may also do the trick. White dishes, simple glass mason jars with white willow berries, chic marble candle holders, and tall brass candlesticks (they bring a lovely, delicate, vertical dimension to the Christmas tablescape) are a fabulous simple lovely mix to usher in the holiday ambience and delicious menu.

White and Airy Country White Christmas
Design inspiration from magazine worthy interiors is lovely indeed, but it can never replace the personal touches you bring from your unique style of celebrating the season and expressing your family’s long kept traditions. Filling the space with comfort and joy and bringing on COZY FACTOR has little to do with how much you spend or how many strings of light illumine your nest.

Speaking of strings of light, do you go nuts with decorating the exterior of your home for Christmas? Is home sweet home something other than a single-family home where you must be more mindful about decorating both inside and out?

Oh so lovely to see the beginnings of Christmas decor!
I haven’t started decorating for Christmas yet but I have taken some of my old decor and gave them new life so they’ll be ready for decorating when the time comes…which is usually the first Sunday in Advent.
Thanks for all the lovely inspirations!

Christmas! Oh, it’s far too early to start! They are lovely pictures though.
I have simplified my decorating over the last ten years. My fireplace wall soars to a cathedral ceiling and has become my focus. I no longer put up a tree but instead, decorate my mantel with live greens, gold balls, and candles. Above the mantel, I or I should say, my hubby hangs two angel wings. Light touches of gold & white are spread around the house, but never overdone. Our gifts rest on an old sled waiting for Christmas morning.
My front porch has a little colour in the red lantern sitting beside the wicker chair, that has a tartan cushion and throw. A pair of little, white skates with red laces prop against the table waiting for someone to take a spin. A wreath with berries sets off my red door and welcomes all. White lights shine from above the pergola, casting a soft glow over my back garden. Maybe, we’ll even get a dusting of snow.
Oh, now I’m in the mood but it’s still too early.
