It’s better when I make this concoction and then squeeze out the juice, disposing the pulp. But you’ll have to decide if you can tolerate that fiber.
Timeless & Just Dang Wearable
Never met a shift dress or tunic I didn’t like. My mama dressed me in shifts back in the 60s as a child, and since we had little money, those knee grazing shifts became mini dresses as I grew taller (hahahaha – it’s all true!).
Do you need to hear this? Because I am reading it to myself this moment and feeling so tender about you and me.
Know what can turn things around rather quickly? Surrender of the mix of troubled feelings, hurt, rage, and shame. Feeling the feelings all the way through, knowing nothing will get solved quickly or easily but at least they will no longer own you. You can own them, knowing they will no longer own YOU.
Sharing all the mixed feelings with therapists, spiritual directors, or someone trustworthy helps so much! Bringing the hidden into the light obliterates shame! Don’t we love when the shame no longer owns us?
I read this, and I think it is a sort of beautiful enlightened commentary just for me right where I am with chronic illness and aging-related issues:

Prairie Skirts are My Spring & Summer Wild Card
I don’t wait for a special occasion or lunch date to wear a skirt.
The prairie style ones I started wearing in the 80s are still a favorite, and I pair them with casual t-shirts or sweatshirts. It doesn’t bother me when the patterns of the top and bottom slightly clash…I think to myself ‘how chicly French of me.’
There’s a freedom that arrives when you decide to liberate courageously for YOU and ignore judgmental spectators discussing your choices. I have limited effs to give so I find it rather easy to ignore.
Wear Colors That Make You Feel Lively
I recall venting to a son about the isolating loneliness of my job and small town where I’m disappearing as my age climbs and beauty fades.
And because his is an old hippie soul, he said:
“Wear happy colors when you leave the house…you’ll meet new friends.”
It’s not about people pleasing or manipulation, but dressing to create a new energy…to infuse a moment in time with vibrance and cheer…yes? My inclination is to wear a white dress everyday! Hahahahaha.
Cheerful, happy colors draw attention and can lift the spirits.
There’s a new dynamic when you experiment and dare to: change it up, wake up the senses, and invite the unknown.
