I’m calling this lightened up English country cottage look “modern” but “contemporary” may be a better description.

Cozy English Country Magic at Heckfield Place (Hampshire)

Heckfield Place showed up on my radar in 2020 when we couldn’t travel and suddenly I felt desperate to visit this boutique hotel. The interiors and English countryside landscape (400+ acres) took my breath away at this charming 18th-century restored manor home in Hampshire, England. It received a redesign by Ben Thompson.

If you like the neutral color above that complements the linen sofa so well, peek at SW Agreeable Gray. I find it to be a great neutral to pair with Belgian linen and natural khaki tones.

Some of the guest suites at Heckfield Place are spacious, while others are snug. Seeing this sliding barn door below gave me pause as I would never have thought to add one inside a traditional Georgian home!

There’s a quiet contemplative nature to these cozy designs, and it is calming to simply behold images of these rooms.
