Sweater Weather Things to Wear
Psst. Your hair looks great, good lookin. What does sweater weather bring to mind for you?
I’m rather boring fashion-wise, and I know it. I need to be comfy. And you know I love all things cozy. So please direct me to super soft knitwear for lounging and luxuriating (and by luxuriating I could mean any number of things including powerbrunching with a friend). How divine that I can get away with pajama-esque ensembles with UGGs in most cases. If you can find Stars Above lounge sets at Target, you may be surprised by the comfort!
I tend to reach for pale and neutral colors even in fall even though I look better in black and navy. This first mood board I created for you contains affordable finds along with one splurge: a cashmere cardigan you can wear year after year.
Cozy Autumn Accents
Do you fancy pretty tonal dried floral wreaths for fall? They’re a nice change from all the willow berries and pumpkin everything, yes? The maker (on Etsy) offers other pretty possibilities too:
Soft & Subtle Sweater Weather
I have been admiring Jenni Kayne’s creativity for years, and if you have yet to discover her timeless pieces to wear and Pacific natural organic gestures to furnish your home, you’re in for a treat.
Nubby, sherpa, and boucle textures are so welcome when the air gets chilly! I love Jenni Kayne’s cedar candle (below)…the packaging and quality are top notch.
My chronic health condition affects my skin to the point that I never really know what I’ll wake up to. Sometimes it is rosacea. Other days it is lesions associated with autoimmune and gastrointestinal issues. I deal with it in part by using gentle, clean beauty products formulated for sensitive skin. And I have been loyal to Jenni Kayne’s Oak Essentials for years now along with a few other lines because it is important that I mix it up to address multiple issues.
Another strategy for keeping my skin clear? Makeup that is skincare in disguise.
And I am especially fond of makeup and skincare lines created by women over age 50 who understand mature skin.
Nubby Lovely Textural Chair
I have a crush on this chair, and while I could justify splurging on it, I can’t help but think that I would need at least two (they could go in our bedroom in front of the windows) and maybe four (for the music room in front of the fireplace for a ‘whiskey room’ look even though it’s apple cider in our tumblers)! See how I have chair issues and worry about one chair feeling too lonely? Chairs! Some of us love us some chairs whether they are broken and cast off on the side of the road or new and nubby in a CB2 catalog!
Seen this Gwyneth Ivory Boucle Chair from CB2!?!
I have seen it and tested it in person, and it is irresistible!
Hey there, Simon. That is not a bad idea at all! If we love the tablecloth pattern enough to place it on the table – why didn’t I think of wrapping it as a scarf before now?
In the Mood for Neutrals & Earthy Fall Colors?
In the mood for a few more sweater weather autumn finds to wear? Check out these ideas for pieces that feature traditional fall colors:
Build a Bag
Here’s a bag in the perfect color for fall…can you even believe how much it complements denim blue?
Monogrammed Necklace
These pretty, minimal, and simple necklaces remind me of Tiffany jewelry but with a friendlier price tag.
Plaid Blanket Scarf
Here’s a piece that can double as a wrap, and doesn’t it have fall cozy written all over it?
Loafers
If you’re looking for a classic that may even transport you back in time to junior high, these will add style to just about any casual ensemble from your autumn closet.
Socks or no socks with your loafers?
Knit Hat in Lovely Colors
You can’t beat the price, and this color may be on trend but it is also a timeless fav.
Vest
Just the perfect piece with warmth to wear to the flea market, grocery store, and lap around the block.
Flannel Pajamas
By now, we’re all familiar with daytime pajamas versus nighttime pajamas, and in my case, I can also make a case for “workday pajamas.” (Which means I can always justify PJ purchases…and isn’t “Grove” color the bees knees?).
Houndstooth Blazer
I adore the look of this blazer with jeans, but it can certainly be dressed up too!
But what jeans? Here are the 501s I I have worn forever:
When Is a Blazer Cozy?
Pairs well with almost everything!
Shearling Sandal
Fuzzy wuzzy cuz we need these to wear inside or outside, yes?
But things are muddy outside here so I wonder if I’d wear them inside when I love love love my UGGs.
Corduroys
Remember cords?
Turtleneck Sweater
Imagine how much wear you could get out of this piece for fall and winter!?! Winter blues are timeless, y’all.
Tissue Turtleneck with a French Accent
How fast can I throw this into my cart!?!
Earrings
Need an everyday earring that feels luxe and understated at the same time?
