Timeless Design Idea No. 2: Moravian Starry Light
Who says you need to go all Swiss cheesy on your hallway ceiling…reach for the stars!
For the fine folk who care to get design-geeky about the history of Moravian stars…Moravian refers to a small group of Germanic protestants who fled to America in the 18th century.
A professor at a Moravian school created a Moravian star to teach a geometry lesson, and this led to its rising as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem.
Traditional Moravian stars have 26 points.
Pendant Light Ideas
I’m smitten with this idea of lining up Moravian Star Pendants in a hall…find beautiful examples HERE.

It honestly looks good in any room of the house!
I have always loved this clever riff on traditional white subway tile in a shower (below) from The Fox Group.
A subtle, contrasting narrow tile is used creates interest with a stripe effect.
Is it a nod to Mid-century modern’s love affair with geometry? Slightly art-deco? Steeped in classicism? All of the above?

When you’re investing in a kitchen design that feels fresh, traditional, and smart for re-sale, keep the materials, palette, and design as classically simple and timeless as this one.

I LOVED this post! Please continue w more like this. Seeing paint colors in actual settings is SO helpful.
What was the paint color -bluish used in the entry hall?
Thanks! Haven’t learned that color yet and will ask The Fox Group! Peace to you. 🙂
The Fox Group have beautiful taste. They have remembered that even small details can elevate a room. I love the oversized lighting.
I must say that in the six picture down of the bath, the undertones are different and it is very busy with the grey veined marble tub surround, hexagon flooring and trim detail and subway tile thrown in the mix. It’s just BAD! Their other baths are magnificent!
They do such beautiful work. I had to include that bath for reference since I love the flooring! Peace to you, design savvy friend. 🙂
That bathroom you referred to is not one of our designs. 🙂
The Fox Group
So sorry for the inaccuracy! I’ve removed the image and appreciate your response!
thanks for the inspiration!! Can you tell me the stain color used on the white oak herringbone floors? Thanks
They haven’t revealed the stain as far as I know – you could dig deep into their IG feed (The Fox Group). To my eyes it appears to be left natural like what we did with our white oak – no stain at all – just a sealer on top. 🙂
Thank you for the lovely feature! It means so much to us!
Always inspired by your exceptional work, Cara. Great to hear from you!
What was the dark blue colour in the media room?
Hi. Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. 🙂
Love idea #3: Serene Palette! But you don’t tell us what is the paint color in the dining room. I need to know! Want something like this in my new kitchen.
You could ask the designer if she is willing to share, Cara Fox – link should be in the post! 🙂

Who is the cabinet company for the “Cheating Heart” color kitchen cabinets? Were they custom painted or is that one of their available colors of cabinetry?
You could ask The Fox Group about the cabinet maker, but Cheating Heart is a Benjamin Moore paint color: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/color-overview/find-your-color/color/1617/cheating-heart
Which white was paired with the cheating heart cabinetry images?
