It’s the kitchen and sunroom imagined by Joanna Gaines we’ll consider in today’s FIXER UPPER Kitchens: The Club House Kitchen (and Sun Room!). These rooms in a French country renovation of a Texas family home known as The Club House were truly dramatic transformation indeed. The kitchen went from totally forgettable and cramped to lofty, luxurious, and dare I say, architecturally wondrous. For fans of HGTV’s Fixer Upper (Season 5, Episode 11), the resources and design ideas here are destined to thrill!

Country French Farmhouse White With White Oak Kitchen
The original kitchen in this home felt cramped and dated, but no more! Joanna Gaines gave the homeowners architectural interest by vaulting the ceiling and adding white oak beams which match the flooring. She incorporated antiques, tile backsplash, kitchen island, stainless appliances, white cabinetry, wood flooring, and wood beams on the ceiling. The wood accents are light in tone, and in lieu of island pendants, there’s a beautifully understated French chandelier.

While many of the Fixer Upper kitchens feature white subway tile and shiplap, Jo designed this French one without those elements. And can you believe there are no open shelves? Instead, a vaulted ceiling, warm wood bar stools, and a breathtaking custom range hood with backsplash create an elegant feel.

The palette is quiet and understated, and a unique hutch with glass doors connects the kitchen with the sunroom, allowing natural light to flow into the space. The cremone bolt hardware on the glass front cabinet doors as well as the warm patina-ed hardware on kitchen cabinets help it feel like an original old kitchen rather than a kitchen makeover.

There are plenty of rustic design elements including the texture of natural wood on the island, hardwood flooring, stools, distressed white French country chandelier, and vaulted ceiling beams. However, the kitchen feels elegant and serene with the restrained color story.

To get the look, I shopped for fixer upper style pieces that work together for a French inspired mix of decor, furniture, and lighting that won’t break the bank.

Country French Farmhouse Style Kitchen Bridge Faucet
Even though the faucet incorporated into The Club House kitchen design is a simple more modern fixture, my vision for a French inspired kitchen involves a bridge faucet. The option below is well priced and available in a brushed nickel finish I favor as well as warm brass.

New & Vintage French Bread Boards
These beautiful rustic boards would be right at home in The Club House kitchen…in fact, we see them just around the corner in the sun room which we will turn our attention to later in this post as well.

Farmhouse French Style Wood Kitchen Counter Stool Ideas
I found several options to get the look of our inspiration kitchen from Fixer Upper, and since there is no need to copy the exact stools, you’ll notice I found a few that are slightly less rustic and might work if small children with messy paws aren’t lurking about.
I actually favor these options more than our inspiration stools!
French Country Upholstered Kitchen Counter Stool Ideas
This is one of my favorite options for an upholstered French country linen counter stool:
Another elegant option is this very sophisticated yet simple stool which would work in any number of kitchen designs.

Exact Ivory Tea Kettle in The Club House Kitchen
Here’s a lovely accessory to score, and it’s the exact pretty tea kettle you see on this episode of Fixer Upper!
Natural Woven Rug Runner
In the inspiration kitchen, there are numerous design moments with natural wood finishes, and another way to bring that into almost any kitchen is with a jute rug or runner.

Light Grey Kitchen Towels
These neutral towels are similar to the ones seen in this French country kitchen on the show and work with almost any color palette.

Whimsical & Rustic Glazed Mugs by Rae Dunn
This next kitchen decor idea comes straight from my own white country kitchen. I have collected lovely Rae Dunn pieces since the artist made each piece by hand back in her San Francisco studio, and now that they are mass produced, it’s easy to afford her designs!

Rustic Planter Idea to Inject Character Into a White Kitchen

Get the Look of The Club House Sun Room
The sun room in the French country renovation is my favorite room from this whole project!

Warm terracotta floors, a gorgeous not-too-fussy fireplace, deconstructed linen upholstered chairs, vintage accessories, and a casual dining table and chairs add up to a whole lotta cozy, with easy access to the beautiful kitchen on the other side of the glass cabinet.

Modern Rustic Planter & Stand
Although this particular planter is not in the actual design from Fixer Upper, I think it is in the same spirit and would be interesting in the mix.

This first pillow suggestion is designed by Joanna Gaines, and you may recall she piled these on the built-in bench in the dining area of the sun room.

Hahahaha – you know we are old when I know the Geraldine routine! My dad used to entertain us kids by doing his impressions of Flip doing Geraldine. Miss Shirleen feels like a dear friend to me. Thanks for tuning in, Amy. Peace to you right where you are.
