It’s always thrilling to see what designer Sherry Hart (Design Indulgence) discovers on her her tour of the Atlanta Homes & LifestylesHome for the Holidays Designer Showhouse in Atlanta (2021’s can be toured Nov. 18-Dec. 12). Today’s inspiration features a few glimpses from this season’s beautiful showhouse as well as a glance back at 2018.

The showhouse benefits Children’s Health Care of Atlanta–a non-profit managing more than 870,000 patient visits annually at three hospitals and 27 neighborhood locations.

2019 Showhouse Overview
This year, the showhouse was a renovated home rather than a new build. Architectural designer Frank Heery of Harrison Design—and nearly 20 interior designers—transformed a 1950s-era Saltbox at the end of a long drive on a nearly four-acre forested lot in Sandy Springs.

The home is a 5,500-square-foot, five-bedroom with several new additions, each built with limestone foundations and clad with handsome wood lap siding.

A distinctive new office tower on one end of the house balances a master bedroom wing on the other while its bath is cantilevered over the verdant grounds like a floating glass box.

A second glass enclosure contains a sculptural staircase connecting all three levels, offering lush back yard views while flooding the interior with natural daylight. At the terrace level, a spacious new covered front porch with arched steel doors opens to a long swimming pool with a splayed infinity edge overlooking the creek below.
