As technology ever sculpts the shape of our daily lives for better, for worse, I am ever drawn to more of THE REAL. The real can be touched and sensed. It evolves and sometimes improves with age. Because it is unforever in its design, quite vulnerable to the elements and time, it is not stagnant or stuck. These Favorite Jeffrey Dungan Designs reflect work transcending the “real enough” many folks have grown to accept and even value. Beautiful earthy timeless architecture from his imagination points us gently to authenticity and soul.

The Drama & Authenticity of Sheltering Beauty
When the architecture for interiors is this stunning, does a space need to be dotted with small objects of interest?
There is lots of room for improvisation for sure. I might gladly trade traces of clutter and decorative gestures designed “to add character” for this flavor of authentic drama and artful nature!
Let’s face it. Without much thoughtful interior design at all, the stuff of everyday life (food, dishes, plants, books, clothing) is bound to add delightful clutter as another layer of authenticity upon this pristine backdrop.
With all of these designs, what at first appears so spare and simple reveals itself to be a personal, warm envelope for living harmoniously with the outdoors.

When a reverence for the outdoors is paramount in the architecture, how can a mistake even be made with the decor and interior design?
There’s a hushed elegance that flows from such thoughtful selection of materials.
While the process for these extraordinary projects must be a winding path of complexity and hidden details, their completion reflects an unmistakably elegant simplicity.
Also a hushed quality. Do you honor such whispers? No New Year resolutions here, though I ever aspire to become a better listener.
Dungan says if we listen closely enough to a site, a house will almost design itself.
Surely this has been true on a much more humble scale with our renovations.
Designs Inspiring Contemplative Listening
Listening in a contemplative manner entails detachment from the noise we so willingly allow.
Detachment from emotional weather shifting the inner landscape.
It’s a high order for some of us highly emotive types. 🙂
Consenting to detachment from what we would rather cling to allows a fresh lifegiving creativity to bloom.
What beauty arises from such deep listening and consent?
What loveliness may take root and grow?
