I didn’t find a great paint color suggestion for the blue door above, and I think I know why. It’s the type of color you typically want to avoid when you’re seeking a baby blue or sky blue, and you don’t want it to read “nursery” or “shocking.”

FARROW & BALL Middleton Pink No. 245. A delicate pink. Our prettiest and most delicate pink was named after the discerning colourist, Catherine Middleton. This light pastel tone is fresh and uncomplicated, especially when contrasted with All White for a gently playful feel. Try pairing our Middleton Pink with Great White for a slightly cleaner urban finish.

So fun! 280 Westbourne St. There were lots of folks posing in front of the door so I had to be patient to snap a photo of it on its own.

When we bought our home, the previous owners had painted the front door red. While not a bad color it looked horrible with the soft, light sage green siding and white trim. It was one of the first things to be changed when the weather warmed enough to paint.
Then I painted it a custom darker green thinking it would connect better with the sage green. It did but it still wasn’t great. The next color was another custom mix sort of tan that matched the pergola and steps we built with composite decking materials. Big fail! Hahah!
Finally with the help of Mother Nature, we had a hail storm requiring us to get new roofing. I picked roofing shingles in a pretty dark gray with little green flecks in it that made the house and detached garage look stunning. Of course that meant another new door color! Yay! The chosen color was Knight’s Armor from Pittsburgh Paint, a beautiful rich dark gray.
The new color was used to paint not only the door but the pergola and steps as well. Now everything had a ‘reason’ and it looked so well put together. We knew we’d hit the mark this time when passers-by would stop and ask us the name of the paint color. 🙂
Front doors say a lot about the house and people within. The dark gray color made our house go from ho-hum to stunningly upscale. 🙂
If I had a little cottage, I do believe that lovely F&B pink would be a high contender for a front door!
Love this door story, Connie! What an evolution your sweet door has come through. The grey sounds elegant, and if folks are asking you about the color – it must be a standout so bravo! Our last few front doors have been stained so no such color story to tell. But I do recall that when we moved years ago, the new owners of the house we sold painted the front door an awful looking red, and my heart just sank. So color really has an emotional component you can’t argue with. Thanks so much for the discussion! xox

Oh I hear you about new owners of our former home making choices that make our hearts sink!
After we sold our former home, we went back a couple times for various reasons. And of course there were the drive-bys for awhile too. 😉 But eventually we learned it was just too sad to see it anymore.
Maybe there should be a rule about not going back to our former homes! Hahahaha……
It is hard to resist driving by, isn’t it? And yet so cruel to ourselves!!! Driving by though is better than dropping by while drunk and trying to get inside (yep, that happened here!). xox
Hi Michele! Thanks for the tour of Notting Hill. My favorite is the bright pink against a white backdrop. I do believe it may be next for us. We bought our white brick home seven years ago and the door was black which looked classic. About a year later we painted it bright apple green and we loved it. After several years we decided to paint it harvest gold and now we love that! When we get tired of that, pink is going to be next💗
xo

It is a stunner and so unusual, don’t you think? Bright apple green sounds so unique too. How fun that it evolves like that. Would love to see the progression!

I love pictures of doors whether on astaely home or humble cottage. I think the colour says a lot about the people that dwell within.
When I moved into our new build the door was stained a light brown. It did nothing for the house or me, so I changed it to BM Raspberry Truffle. In love!!! It stands out in the neighbourhood and hints of the accent colour within. It’s my happy, confident colour.
Oh, that pale pink is so very sweet. And, Razzle Dazzle is stunning! Hmmmm
Raspberry Truffle sounds incredible! For the exterior shutters we built for our very first home, we painted them raspberry, and the house looked like a delicious candy house! Thanks so much for playing along and enjoying the colorful parade. xox

I was born & bred here (as us cockney Londoner’s like to say 😂) 1960-1976 Princedale Road just off Holland Park Avenue & went to Ladbroke Girls School not far from the Portobello Rd. It was as colourful then as it is now. I’m still totally in love with it & often pickup a few of my Sisters (6 yep 7 girls 1 boy 😂) to go and reminisce. We moved to Fulham & then I married & Pimlico was home for 21 yrs, now it’s Surrey!.. You often see pictures of Nottinghill on Pintrest but it’s so special when you see a post on someone you follow s lovely webpage that I look at almost daily. Thank you so much for sharing those gorgeous photos I ❤️ the slate grey next to the pink house. (Sppp I’m tempted take a paintbrush & give Hue Grants front door a couple of coats on my next visit 😂
How lovely to hear from you! It’s great to have you here. 6 sisters is incredible and just one brother (like our family!). So much beauty charmed me on that visit, and my favorite thing is to simply walk and soak it all in. More to share if I ever catch my breath. And yes, please do something to improve Hugh’s curb appeal and standing with the neighbors. 🙂
