Lovely Christmas Cards: Choose a Favorite!

Are you one of those last minute types who rushes to the post office the week of Christmas to mail cards and gifts? If you care to get a head start this year, do check out these possibilities for personalized Christmas cards from Minted.

"Scripted Merry" - Christmas Photo Cards in Crimson by Kasia Labocki.
CHRISTMAS CARD #2. “Scripted Merry” – Christmas Photo card in Crimson by Kasia Labocki. Be honest. Are you smiling at the sweet baby or this fabulous antique?

Sometimes just hearing “personalized” can seem stressful if you don’t happen to have a killer vacation photo of you and yours with savage tans posing perfectly on a beach in the tropics. But fear not. You don’t even need a photo to customize an artfully designed card which will reflect your personal style and convey the unique message you long to deliver.

"Holiday Delivery" - Holiday Cards in Mint by Susan Moyal.

Let’s face it.

Sometimes a Christmas card or holiday card is the only correspondence you’ll receive all year from even very close friends and family. So why not put some thoughtfulness into the process by sending a beautiful card with or without a photo?

"Joy Clearing" - Holiday Cards in Wreath by Alethea and Ruth.
CHRISTMAS CARD #4. “Joy Clearing” – Holiday Card in Wreath by Alethea and Ruth. I love the way the art hugs the typography.

I thought I might create a Christmas card with a photo of me and my husband from our London trip in October. However, the resolution just wasn’t up to par, so I had to re-think that idea. My creative solution? I used my favorite photo of the two of us, and it sure aint a current one. It is from the 80’s when we just began dating.

I look at that picture of us and try to remember our teenaged selves and how the future loomed before us.

"Heaven And Nature" - Holiday Cards in Jet by Bonjour Berry.
CHRISTMAS CARD #5. “Heaven and Nature” Holiday card in Jet by Bonjour Berry. Such an elegant statement! Choosing a Christmas card online doesn’t have to cause a headache! Lovely Christmas Cards: Choose a Favorite. Personalized holiday cards from Minted…in case you need some inspiration.

I’ll also write a letter to be included with the card, not to brag about monumental successes or career coups for our family in 2018, but to reflect and encourage friends and family who are all so different and all fighting battles we cannot see.

"Gifts from Above" - Christmas Photo Cards in Fern by Chris Griffith.
CHRISTMAS CARD #6. “Gifts from Above” – Christmas Photo card in Fernby Chris Griffith.

So many folks skip Christmas letters now since they feel chronicling on social media is a substitute. Yet not everyone uses Facebook, and if pressed, I think most would agree they love receiving such letters to feel a sense of closeness across the miles.

"Modern Pine Wreath" - Holiday Cards in Ink by Alethea and Ruth.
CHRISTMAS CARD #7. “Modern Pine Wreath” Holiday card in Ink by Alethea and Ruth. Isn’t this a striking card? Choosing a Christmas card online doesn’t have to cause a headache! Lovely Christmas Cards: Choose a Favorite. Personalized holiday cards from Minted…in case you need some inspiration.

This year, I plan to steal my mom’s idea for using holiday cards that arrive in the mail. She has a designated Christmas tree with white lights only, and she hangs all of the Christmas cards she receives on that tree (only I’ll receive about 95% less cards since she receives hundreds!).

"Holiday Window" - Holiday Cards in Crimson by Susan Moyal.
CHRISTMAS CARD #8. “Holiday Window” – Holiday Card in Crimson by Susan Moyal. So very sweet.

This year, I plan to spend the day after Thanksgiving happily writing a letter to tuck into our joyful Christmas cards from Minted.

Smart Tips for Scoring a Photo for a Christmas Card

1. Let Your Past be Their Present.

Firstly, use a favorite old photo (or three!) (like I did for Christmas 2018) if you’re not sold on a recent one.

Christmas card "Rejoice Heart" from Minted. Hello Lovely Studio.
CHRISTMAS CARD #10. Here’s the Minted card I chose! “Rejoice Heart” – Holiday Card by Alethea & Ruth. Oh mercy, there we are in a 1966 Corvette with freshly laden sod at my husband’s rural family home in the background! I adore the hand lettering and festive pines of this card’s design.

Through the magic of Minted, you can also customize a beautiful coordinating stamp for your chosen card. I could not resist these lovely ones which I personalized with an R.

2. Dig Into Your Social Media Archive.

Secondly, check your photos and albums on Facebook to see if there isn’t one that would fit the bill…you may discover you have more photos saved than you think! Don’t forget a casual, silly, or humorous photo or one that doesn’t shout “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” may be just right for your choice. Exhibit A:

3. Think Fur or Front Door.

Thirdly, choose a photo of your pet, your home, or your front door.

While we don’t have a pet to celebrate on a card, if I had this beauty peeping out the windows like Tracie of My Petite Maison, I would have to design a white card around the sweet thing!

Send a customized card without a photo! I sent a beautiful Christmas card last year which did not have a photo on the front. When I was researching products on Minted for a peaceful Christmas decor post, I spotted the cutest reindeer artwork by Petra Kern and knew it was the one for us!

2. New Year’s is a Holiday Too.

3. Think Pink.

There are plenty of artfully gorgeous softer hued options at Minted which require no photo. If touches of  PRETTY PINK suits you, ooh la la.

There’s something pleasingly nostalgic about the Winter Berries design above, and yet it’s not too old-fashioned.

4. Express Adoration for Nature.

    Good morning Michele,

I love Minted! They have so many beautiful cards and art that is is hard to choose a favorite. But if I had to it would be the card with the stag. Your pick for this year is so sweet! I love the idea of a flashback” holiday card.

Have a beautiful day my friend.
