Thoroughly inspired and relaxed by the Serenity Suite in a restored 19th century Avignon French chateau (and available to book through Haven In), I gathered together a few ingredients for capturing a timeless and tranquil mood.
Today, you’ll find more inspiring interior design from this hotel suite and ideas for creating a calm French inspired look no matter where you call home.
This restored 19th century mansion with five suites for guests, boasts the largest private garden in Avignon, and I hope you’ll be inspired by the timelessly tranquil mood of the relaxing South of France suite.

Color Palettes
Let’s first consider the beautifully serene and very natural color palette employed on the exterior of the chateau. Its calm, quiet, nurturing tones form such a perfect backdrop to the garden’s lush, tropical vibrancy. A creamy limestone color is accented with a green-gray which to me resembles FARROW & BALL French Gray. This pairing of calm colors could work well inside as well. We saw a beautiful example of using Farrow & Ball’s French Gray on interior woodwork in this French farmhouse house tour.
For the creamy limestone color, here’s a pretty one:
An idea for a paint color similar to the warm grey in this hotel suite’s bedroom? BENJAMIN MOORE Ashley Gray is a possibility. I used this color on the walls of our French country kitchen in our prior home. Our kitchen received a ton of natural light from large windows which were left un-dressed, so do keep that in mind when selecting a calm color like this gray.
The wall color in this serene, modern bathroom seems reminiscent of BENJAMIN MOORE Revere Pewter, a color I have used multiple times, most recently as a glaze (with water) to transform our master bedroom furniture which formerly sported an antique white/pale yellow color.

How cozy would it be to climb under the covers surrounded by billowing curtains? Such a dreamy room.
Those monkeys would freak me out though. It would be like sleeping with the Flying Monkeys from the Wizard of Oz.
I love the Farrow & Ball French Grey. I have that colour on my fireplace that goes from floor to top of a cathedral ceilng. Love, love, love it!
What I like most about Saturday is that leisurely, second cup of coffee. Mmmm Enjoy your weekend, Michelle! And, keep the beauty coming this way.
hahaha! those monkeys do add energy and whimsy – two elements not all of care to promote in the boudoir! 🙂 i’m so happy you’re taking the day gently. mine started with chores and blossomed into quiet catching up with friends online. now to get out into the beautiful sunlight! 🙂

Beautiful serene places with calming color palette. I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford such lux to lay this head upon. I voted for you my friend. Positive vibes your way. Peace.
I am crazy about that dining room table, chairs, statue, windows, floor and natural light. I wonder what it feels like at night though? Maybe the garden is lit in a way that it feels cozy? Thanks for reading and bringing so much positive energy here. 🙂
