My favorite part about French farmhouse and French Country inspired design is the mix of rustic with refined. If it was all rustic, it could feel shabbily rough and masculine. All refined? Unapproachable and too precious. Put ’em together, and they don’t cancel each other out; rather, they elevate the other.
Are you enjoying springlike weather yet? Mild temperatures have finally arrived to my neck of the woods, and some of my trees are beginning to bud. This time of year always inspires me to de-clutter and make changes around the house, which I am slowly but surely doing. If you read my post with tips for achieving a serene decor look in the kitchen, you’ll know from the photos I shared of my kitchen that we live relatively minimalistically. But in winter, all sorts of extra stuff piles up. So I am editing once again since I feel most relaxed with a tidy, organized nest. How about you? Have you tackled any spring cleaning yet?
Before all the decor beauty commences, let’s allow Van Gogh’s wisdom and the glowing flame of Pamela Pierce’s candle above, to remind us of the power of LOVE. Whether we are tackling a room’s decor, cooking dinner, or working at our jobs – we need not perform perfectly; just with love. For me, doing things with love entails behaving more heartfully than mindfully. It means seeking purity and kindness for my heart and then keeping my heart wide open so it may overflow into the universe.

Ooooh……to say it’s all lovely is just barely touching the surface! I love every single photo you’ve posted.
I know I didn’t live in another lifetime, but I think if Heaven is what we imagine to be lovely here on Earth, then there will certainly be French design there.
I have no idea why French design speaks to me, but it certainly does and thank goodness my husband also likes it. 🙂
Every single post you write is delicious eye-candy! Merci!
