Is there an age where adopting internet slang is beyond uncool? And is “slay” even circulating in the USA anymore? Because while it is hardly a part of my vocabulary these days, these inexpensive daily essentials indeed SLAY, kittens. I’m sharing a bunch of random currently in the rotation this summer. What is working well for sunscreen, hair, and makeup? What am I reading? Do I still live in linen dresses with pockets? While we likely won’t reinvent anything, maybe an option here will work for you too.

I independently selected products in this post—if you buy from one of my links, I may earn a commission.
Inexpensive Daily Essentials
1. Beauty, Skin & Books I’m Loving
These inexpensive finds are amazing!
Love me a ruched swim suit with tummy control because no matter what I weigh, bloating is a thing. I have been battling with my skin this summer, but a new dermatologist prescribed just what my rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis needed to heal. Finally my moisture barrier is restored, and the Ultra Repair Cream (above) is just right for my sensitive skin. I wear sunscreen everyday, and here’s a super friendly priced skin tint that you may especially love if your skin is dry.

Beach Please is a blush and lip tint in a gorgeous color, and the hydrating concealer I use to cover dark circles and sometimes as a foundation when I want more coverage. This liquid eyeshadow is what I have searched YEARS for! Under $7, and I appy a teeny tiny bit then pat with my finger. It’s sparkly, but if you use it sparingly…yum. The shampoo is gentle and smells divine, and these protein treatments? Omg. I can get five uses out of each packet, and if you have ever paid for a keratin treatment for your hair at the salon…bingo! The books I’m reaching for are still mostly nonfiction and spiritual direction.
2. Homeworthy: Tour a Small Space in Ojai
Yes, a bit of interior inspiration is a daily essential on planet Michele!
3. Makeup Videos: KACKI REVIEWS BEAUTY
4. Soul Work: Intentional Habits Every Day
With so much uncertainty that arises daily when living with chronic illness, it helps to do intentional self-acceptance work. I notice my attitudes, reactivity, and capacity to be compassionate.

If negativity or irritability is creeping in, I question it (am I having physical pain? am I sleep-deprived? what feelings are arising? where in the body are they arising?) and do not let thoughts spiral.
With the seriousness of global strife, it’s easy to grow cynical. What is very alive in me just now is how important telling the truth is.

In the absence of hope on so many days–this takes courage, but it is a daily essential for my soul.
5. Random Lovely Finds
Accessories (hat, sandals, bag) in the mix below may qualify as investment pieces, but the dresses are reasonably priced.

At this age, I wear less makeup but still love it. I love how I can make my skin look like better skin. I also love how thoughtful the ingredients in cosmetics are these days. Watching makeup and beauty tutorials is relaxing and a nice escape from the grind.
