Springtime means more folks are listing their homes. Fantasy-level real estate stalking has me reeling as though time is FLYING. Wasn’t it just yesterday Jessica Simpson was living in this charming Hidden Hills house with shabby chic plump white denim sofas and feminine florals? Actress Jennifer Lawrence owned it until 2025 (good Lord let me do ANYTHING half as brilliant as her performances in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle), and it’s on the market again. Modern minimal French interiors were masterfully imagined by Clements Design.

Psst. Time IS passing more quickly. Seriously. We don’t need reminders from high profile, high end house-hoppers or interior design’s changing tides to know this. By all means, say what you need to say; tomorrow is not promised.

Fantasy Level French in Hidden Hills
What a grand entry! Were I lucky enough to tour this property in person, I would head straight to the kitchen.

I’m crazy about the carrera marble island and chevron wood floors. The cabinets feel very California and minimal and appear to be a putty color. Check out this story if you need ideas of putty tones to sample. Here’s a possibility:
Are you surprised by how understated this kitchen re-do is? I love its quiet, monastic feel and could move right in.

Serene Gardens & Nature Setting
Need a sunny spot for breakfast? I suppose we could cozy on down inside, but the lush greenery is calling.

I am always amazed at what privacy, grandeur and beauty are possible outdoors even with 1/3 of an acre:

This is my fantasy of a sanctuary-like garden:

Let’s tour more of Clements Design loveliness inside.

Modern Minimal French Interiors
While this restrained look is not for everyone, as a creative soul who works in quiet, it is definitely working for me.

My husband and I are happiest when we are busily creating (building and repairs for him, writing, painting, and songwriting for me). There’s a definite connection between our creative madness and preference for calm surroundings.

My mom will visit and ask “where are all the pretty things?” Translation: why are the walls so bare and belongings tucked behind closed doors?

I’m not often still enough or eager to gaze around the room at art or objects. I would rather be creating the art or staring at a book with real pages. Here’s one:

I feel peaceful where there is less, where there is gentle balanced harmony, and where my mind can open freely.

In fact, my minimalist tendencies are increasing so that this fanciful applied trim in the bedroom might even be too much were it my bedroom.

Doesn’t the bedroom feel like a chic Paris apartment?

Suddenly I’m compelled to go clear tabletops! Hahahaha.

Would you, could you, place a large screen over your dining room sideboard? A very personal preference indeed that has my imagination engaged.

This mother and son Los Angeles based design team know their way around exclusive design stories for discerning clients. Their work always stops my scroll, and I cannot fathom the client rolodex (or design meetings with no need for lengthy discussion about budget or change orders…if they hired you, there IS no budget).

These next bedrooms by Kathleen and Tommy are not from this Hidden Hills listing, but they do give me wings:

Suddenly I am not sure I can live another day without a linen bedspread…or staff to steam wrinkles away daily! Fine. I’ll live with wrinkles.

Any potential buyers for this breathtaking LA property? I hope all the furniture gets written into your offer! Please invite me for a swim should it become yours.

I’ll be here temporarily on the prairie, content to soak up this tour’s timeless tranquility and take educated guesses at the neutral paint/plaster colors selected for the color story (#goodtimes). Here’s the latest warm ivory I used for our snowbird interiors:
Peace to you right where you are.
