As a child, cloying bubblegum pink bedroom walls and shag carpet were the rage for my peers. Thanks to my talented mom, my own bedroom was fairly neutral with tasteful timeless touches including antiques. As a grownup boy mama, no requests for pink surfaced. The only pink in our house lives inside my closet as clothing (a closet which does not in the slightest resemble the closet below!) and occasionally as petals in a vase of water on the table. Still. I never tire of exploring the possibilities and pink paint colors nearly impossible to get right!

Inspiring Chic Pink Interiors
Pink seems always to have nostalgia factor and femininity. It’s hard to beat when combined with green.

Here’s a place to see more romantic interiors beyond pink.

Remember when this pink door broke the internet back in the dark ages of early Pinterestdom?
I’m totally into this sumptuous snug of a room with pink velvet (above).

It adds so much charm and personality to Pearl Lowe’s kitchen, but since it is only paint, you could change your mind and erase it in a day! Will this year be the year you opt for a pink Christmas?
THINK Pink Fine Art
Betsy Eby uses hot wax, cold wax, and oil paint on these panels:

For Milk and Honey, Eby created “material conveyances of poetry” through expressive layers of wax and pigment. Swaths of color teeter around wispy backgrounds like seeds rustling through midsummer fields. Gauzy pastels reflect a lyrical optimism. Brushstrokes beam a quietly hopeful compassion.

In my own home, the palest of nude pinks loom large in these fine art prints on the wall:

Do they qualify as edible art? Homemade macarons from my kitchen.

Living works of art in the palest most luscious pink!
Paint Colors for Pink Chic
Since so many of the best pink interiors were professionally designed and painted with a custom color, we have to take educated guesses. This showroom in AD is so chic it hurts…

Benjamin Moore Pink Paint Colors
You could try this pink paint color called COASTAL COTTAGE:

Here’s another pretty pink to consider:

Here’s a warmer shade of blush pink:

Here’s what designer Sara Story told House Beautiful about Calamine:

Similar to Calamine, Cameo Stone is a pale, barely there pink with a soft, greyed look I have used for a client’s bedroom.

Gorgeous Pink Wallpaper Patterns to Consider
If you have the budget for DeGournay handpainted wallpaper as seen in panels such as those below…oh la la:

Lauren Santo Domingo, Moda Operandi founder, spoke to Town & Country about her endurance to land the perfect pink: “I can have 20 meetings to find the right color. You can’t tire me out. I will get it right.”
Don’t you love that level of reverence? If pink walls are too much of a commitment, a pink fabric may be just the ticket.

Maybe there’s an opportunity for a blushing wallpaper?

Pink Accents for Home

A rosy hued sham provides a hint of femininity on a beautiful bed…

and a quilt in a tasteful pink may live like a neutral.
Pink and green are such dear friends!
And don’t forget about all of the wonderful opportunities to celebrate pink as an accessory or everyday soothing essential:

When pink is continued on the ceiling…
it can even feel downright modern (or at least Modern English Country!).

Hushed Pink Tones
My favored pinks are those muddied European ones that don’t feel too precious, cloying, or sweet. European pink pointe shoes (these are from my collection) are often a peachy, antiqued pink that feels royally decadent.

I happen to be one of those people who loves pink – every shade, from the softest found inside a sea shell, to shocking Shiaparelli. It’s a very flattering color, whether it’s reflected from a garment, or a wall. It’s such a versatile and underappreciated color, and can actually be quite sophisticated. Thank you for this pretty, pink post, Michelle.

So beautifully articulated, Lisa. I want more pink in my life as I admire it so. The pink sunsets in Arizona fill my soul with beauty, and the pink light in January on our prairie never grows old. xox
