What a gentle afternoon today with its mild temperature and warm breeze. My energy is low, and I’m a bit dizzy (hello, incoming migraine, hello) so it felt just right to close my eyes and lounge in an adirondack chair on the deck. Fall is right right the corner, and I know this since I joined my buddies at the apple orchard (see us HERE). How about you? Are you stacking pumpkins on your porch steps yet? Baking muffins and crisps? Thinking about autumnal tablescapes? It’s never a bad time to cozy on down, dream a little, and savor AUTUMN comforts and vibes because the season never stretches quite long enough.

Autumn Comforts, Vibes & Inspo from Creatives
Candlelight Autumn Comfort
Here’s a new to me fall candle to enjoy from BE STILL CANDLE. The white wood dough bowl looks lovely anywhere I set it! Just pour in the candle beads, slip in one of the included wicks, and add the included selenite crystal for good measure. Even if you aren’t a crystal-type, you can’t argue with the calm!
Here it is on the kitchen table:
Even the pouch for storing the supply of candle beads/pearls is beautiful. Press play to see it glowing in the dappled daylight today:
What’s extra special about this small business offering these unique candles? It is proudly Mexican and female-owned. What a great way to support BE STILL CANDLE in September which is Hispanic Heritage Month!
Looking to Inspiring Creatives for Cues
What to do if you find you are one pricey antique tapestry with exquisite cozy fall colors short?
I think my favorite autumn glimpses are less contrived, natural ones where you can’t detect styling at all.
Let’s start our cozy comfort train with this farmhouse cherished by its owners:
Oh that barn! Wouldn’t it be amazing to have one specifically for entertaining and occasions?
What fond, magical memories I hold dear of so many autumns in the orchard with my sons.
Were you ever instructed about the proper way to pluck an apple from the tree?
Me? Yes, madame.
Hold the apple softly in your paw; twist gently.
Since we still have a few days before the official start of FALL, maybe we could begin to consider how our inner landscape reflects a seasonal change.
How to Savor Autumn Cozy: Ideas for Homes & Hearts
I wonder what fruits of a multiplied harvest we may be enjoying?
What have we been cultivating? And what may require pruning?
Maybe we can begin to set intentions for the season ahead as well. What would you like to give yourself to this autumn? How would you like your life to feel in the coming weeks?
I am feeling drawn to longer walks on the trails behind our home. And also to slowing down in all my tasks to become more embodied in daily living. So often, without intention we can become floating heads, scrolling the hours away.
Our bodies are counting on us to listen to them.
Fall often feels like a new year to me. How about you? A sort of reset and a chance to take inventory.
Seasonal Change Inside and Out
My energy tends to shrink in autumn, and yet I long to get organized and clear the decks. This means I must be very very patient with myself. A few tasks checked off the list each day may feel not feel as though you’re killin it, but allow the days to add up.
Do you feel connected to nature’s cycles and changes as I do? Does your mood and outlook and energy change as the harvest moon rises?
Now that our secret courtyard behind the hedges is nice and cozy, maybe we will begin to have casual harvest dinners there. If we are feelin’ saucy, maybe a potluck will happen. Do you love them? My favorite potluck variation is to ask guests to bring a favorite appetizer (can be homemade or storebought).
Even the simplest of harvest dinners are the best! Chili, homemade bread, and apple crisp? Yes, please. Serve cocktails, mocktails, maybe a caramel apple sangria:
Please don’t expect my set table to be as elegant as this:
I’m not the type who devotes days to tablescapes…my tables tend to be last minute, using what I have and very natural and intuitive! However, I will labor over a recipe for a week to get it just right for you, layering it with extra love.
Autumnal Cozy at Home
You will rarely find russet tones or orange anything at my house even in autumn, but I love seeing pumpkin spice elsewhere.
Knowing yourself and understanding how color influences you emotionally is so important. It’s why we were willing to laboriously erase brown and red to lighten the color story here at the Georgian. The more of it we subtracted, the lighter and more at home we felt within these rooms.
Oh, my little tub at our former house! While it was sweet to behold, I much prefer my new vintage tub which is standard size! I took a long cozy bath this afternoon, and oh, it was heavenly. The water remains warm, and my husband made a sweet bath tray to hold my potions, phone, book, etc.
As pretty as golden leaves are, we do not at all our raking days!

Calorie-Free Virtual Fall Comfort Food
I may have already baked banana bread twice this week! And I should mention I can’t eat my yummy sourdough bread…it is shared with friends and neighbors. What will you bake?
Apple crisp is calling to me.
I recall the declaration of my pal Elizabeth of Pinecones and Acorns that apple crisp is a health food, and I’m quite sure she has confirmed that with science and the proper authorities. 🙂
I hope you don’t plan to debate the issue with me. 🙂
*steps away from desk to check pantry for apple crisp ingredients*
I’m so glad this lovely food blogger book worm takes the time to create delightful tablescapes through the seasons. Of course, pulling off a “simple” look is typically not all that simple.
I have soooooo much respect for stylists!

Velvet and Linen’s Earthy Organic Cozy Factor
Brooke’s feed, Velvet and Linen is a timeless, enchanting and enduring delight.
It is possible I could get through Mondays and Wednesdays without video clips of her pygmy goats and pigs in Patina Land.
But I simply don’t want to.
What a joy it will be to visit Patina Home & Garden again soon.
