Patina Living: European Country With a Cali Twist
As I type these words, I can hear fireworks and laughter from neighbors enjoying a beautiful summer night. Me? I like things quiet. Light the citronella candle on the porch, and give me a cozy seat to luxuriate in a a gorgeous design book!
Does your design library include Patina Farm?
Although the Giannettis moved on from this Ojai paradise, there is still so much goodness to enjoy from it in the design dream team’s books.
The Old World style new build was a busy family’s bold adventure away from chaos, and as the farm grew with animals, so did the humans.
Remember when Patina Farm’s interiors were taking shape?
As fans of Brooke followed along, it felt magical to watch as each layer of the home’s construction and decor were thoughtfully achieved.
Inside Patina Living is a beautifully photographed collection of images, recipes, and snapshots of organic California French farmhouse life.

Real Farm or Instagram Gimmick?
Oh, Patina Farm and now, Patina Meadow are the real deal. If you are a longtime follower of Brooke Giannetti’s Velvet and Linen, you probably remember chronicles of Patina Farm as well animal adoption updates. Goats, donkeys, sheep, cows, pigs and chickens keep them busy and bring a fullness of life and love to the landscape.
Can you imagine caring for these creatures each day, beginning at the crack of dawn?
Or working at your desk inside as little goats frolic just outside your window?
Brooke and Steve’s vision of pastoral tranquility for their family led to more than a showhouse for their many talents. It was a bold move to live more intentionally and to share a piece of paradise with others.
Their dreaming also inspires us to think more boldly and to dream of possibilities!
Modern European Country Bedroom
I could ramble on about how their aesthetic and lifestyle philosophies speak to my soul…how something set apart seems to be happening.
There’s a freedom that rises when you bravely become rooted in a place that gives so freely your spirit can’t help but become more giving too.
Psst. Furniture such as the chaise above? Designed by Giannetti Home.
As I journey with chronic illness, I try to stay permeable to receive and transmit messages of hope and healing. These words came to me last year at this time, and maybe they will land on fertile ground:

Gardens by the Giannettis
Curious about Patina Farm’s gardens?
Deep sigh! Aren’t they magnificent?
Tending to gardens, land, and animals must surely keep the Giannetti family anchored in a place of wholeheartedness and gratitude.
I know a little bit about how landscapes affect us at deep levels. Not long ago, I called home a shady spot on a hill where grass struggled to grow. Now I’m on the edge of a forest where the sunshine can find everything planted so it’s all growing, thriving, blooming, and flourishing…
In terms of the outdoors, here’s what Brooke says about the design process:
Modern French Dining Room
So many design elements to admire from the lofty ceilings to the limestone, plaster, and collected European antiques.
The lighting is divine, and the original art is by Steve Giannetti.
Hard to Beat This Window Seat
Would you choose to get literary or lounge-y with a gentle breeze?
What a brilliant place for both!
Gardens at the Giannetti Home
While the interiors of Patina Farm were laid-back luxe, the outdoors could be described as lush!
Doesn’t the image above bring to mind Provence or a beautiful garden moment from the South of France?
Those pink sunsets remind me of the Arizona sky I so adore.
We were spoiled as followers to be treated to peeks of Patina Farm through the seasons!
When the Gardens Were Young
It only feels like yesterday the Giannettis were planting their gardens…it was actually more than a decade ago.
You’ll delight in Patina Living’s visual treasury of natural farmhouse beauty. Its golden warmth glows with timelessness, tranquility, and tenderness.
