I’m seeing so many rosy walls and even cabinets in my social feeds. Still no pink or pink accents (beyond the rosy tinged dried hydrangeas) here, but pink pretty things are ever on my radar and a part of my wardrobe. Searching for a few sophisticated dusty rose paint colors to sample? How could you introduce a pop or two in your own home? These dusty rose paint colors are food for thought and lovely options for longevity and livability in timeless (and not trendy!) homes.
Dusty Rose Paint Colors Ideas
Dusty Rose Options: PORTOLA
These rosy hues feel like earthy pinks and pack serious potential for a wide variety of rooms. Think powder rooms, closet interiors, spare bedrooms, home offices, and of course, kids rooms. The following cotenders hail from PORTOLA PAINTS.
Have you discovered the television show CAPTURING HOME with dream design duo Amy Neunsinger and Kate Martindale? The two creative dynamos have worked together for years and now reimagine rooms for others.
While each of their projects is completely original and custom, all reflect a reverence for vintage, comfort, organic luxe, and a mix of colors and art. These interiors are truly livable and cozy, not contrived. I adored this pink they chose for a rustic garage which morphed into a dining room.
What a gorgeous island-chic pink! What would you call it? Flamingo? Salmon? Smoky blush? It reminds me of the following dusty rose…
Benjamin Moore CUSTIS SALMON
Here’s Benjamin Moore Custis Salmon:
You know it’s sophisticated if Suzanne Kasler uses it! Custis Salmon walls with stools are from her Haut Marais Collection (and don’t you love the idea of this gallery wall where you can just lean the art and rotate it as you please?).
I wasn’t ready to paint my own builtins dusty rose, but this is gorgeous:
The handpainted deGournay wall covering isn’t so shabby either! Dusty rose paint colors and lovely peachy-nudes tend to feel grounded and more neutral than cool pinks.
The color of this dress gives me all the earthy feels:
And I can’t help but think of gorgeous natural pinks that look good on almost every complexion:
Velvety Pink Gucci Wallpaper
Somehow bold pink can be chic when it has just the proper undertones. For example, the background in this exclusive high end Gucci Heron Print wallpaper!
Do you love it? Here’s a detailed look at the background:
After careful analysis and digging into my archives, here’s a coral-like paint color that approaches the look of the Gucci pink…Check out SW 6598 Dishy Coral:
Mind you, Dishy Coral may be too bold if you’re after something more earthy.
Mission Rose may remind you a little of those 1980s mauves. It’s a pink with just the right amount of blue in it that I love for lip colors. It also has a desert sunset feel. Do you suppose its desert character is what keeps it feeling calm and earthy? Could MISSION ROSE be the hue in that Sunday Suppers dining room episode (scroll up to top of post to see it if necessary)?
Or maybe that pink is closer to Casa California:
Soft & Subtle Earthy Rose
Another rosy hue from Portola Paints I admire is Angel’s Landing:
How amazing is it with Canvas Bag painted walls and floors in this DÔEN shop in Brentwood designed by Nickey Kehoe.
Angel’s Landing feels gentle and lovely like my favorite blush roses and those tones that compliment so many complexions.
I’m always singing the praises of Jenni Kayne and her Oak Essentials line to which I am loyal, and there’s something soft, earthy, and inviting about her aesthetic…
I want to live inside every organic and natural lifestyle image the brand styles:
The color story from Oak Essentials/Jenni Kayne with all its warm neutrals reminds me how even a wee bit of pink mixed with creamy white sings. This blushy-beige below in a Welsh cottage positively glows:
The color reminds me of Portola Paints’ PERSONA colorway:
Believe it or not (you wouldn’t know from this particular swatch where you can’t spy the pink undertones), even the white paint color in my own kitchen has a pinky glow:
I love it when the pink becomes more perceptible at certain times of day. Are you drawn to more pale blush pink tones like this gorgeous sleepwear?
Because I find soft pinks youthful and peaceful. Whether I’m wearing them or snipping pink hydrangeas from my hedge (won’t be long!) at just the right blushing moment, pink calms me.
Help for Selecting Pretty Pink Paint Colors
While pink may be a challenge to get just right (don’t expect a quick run to the big box store to browse under fluorescent lights), with multiple samples, you can get there.
In the Moda Operandi showroom below where De Gournay hand-painted panels are surrounded by a sophisticated pink, founder Lauren Santo Domingo told Town & Country 20 meetings were required to determine the precise pink!
Choose Pinks to Sample
If you are DIYer, where should you start?
First, search my archives and save images to Pinterest to organize color stories you love.
Then head to Samplize to browse possibilities and order at least three peel and stick samples (no mess!) and have them delivered straight to your door.
Why not just decide on one color and go for it?
Just because a particular color works in my home doesn’t mean it is the right choice for yours. When you have at least three possibilities and view them together, you’ll note undertones and differences with light reflectance (LRV) you won’t otherwise notice.
Psst. We may not know the exact paint on the exterior above, but a sample of this dusty rose color below may get you closer. While it appears darker, exterior colors get washed out with sunlight.
Dusty Pink Paint Color Ideas
There are gorgeous European influenced pinks that work beautifully in traditional settings.
FARROW & BALL Pink Ground 202
These pinks feel very Parisian, yes?
Who can forget how Brooke Giannetti used it with art in her bath?
BENJAMIN MOORE Coastal Cottage 1164
When you are after a soft, shrimp-like, slightly salmon, European peachy pink, think about pastel oranges.
FARROW & BALL Setting Plaster
Would you, could you, paint yourself a pretty in pink canopy of a ceiling like designer Jeffrey Bilhuber?
When Warm Earthy Blush Rose is Your Poison
BENJAMIN MOORE First Light
Here’s a very calm pink with brown undertones.
BEHR Cameo Stone
This is the pale pink we painted my mom’s bedroom walls years ago. It’s a soft, greyed down, rosy pink which could easily work with lavender or light grey accents.
This gorgeous pale pink from Sherwin-Williams (Intimate White) reminds me of that unforgettable bedroom in Suzanne Kasler’s home!
Any of these dusty rose paint colors calling? Have an old door, dresser, or accent table you could experiment on? How about a ceiling?
While I’m not sure of the exact shade on that ceiling above, here’s a pretty suggestion:
