For me, summer and linen just go together! Belgian Linen, Belgian Interiors & Pale Stone Color Stories is an excuse to celebrate Belgian inspired designs, this nubby textile, and the gorgeous natural color! Even if you’re not in the market for linen decor or clothing, keep reading. I’ll show you how my own home says HELLO LOVELY to linen. While warm months seem tailor made for pale linen-tones and Belgian linen, I love it all year round.

Belgian Linen, Belgian Interiors & Pale Stone Color Stories
This post is as much for me as you since I’m gearing up to begin decorating our family room.
At this moment, the walls are SW Agreeable Gray which is a wonderful paint color if you’re looking for a linen-toned neutral that works well with Belgian linen upholstery.

While a rustic wood ceiling is not going to happen in my own room, it adds so much rugged character:
Pale Stone & Belgian Inspired Color Stories
Our space does boast builtins which I painted the same color as walls to quiet them. Speaking of quiet…the sight of the pale tones in this stone?

I’m weak in the knees!

What a gorgeous chaise (above) that seems perfect for a nap!

The sofas in our family room are slipcovered in a custom Belgian linen cover, and I love the look of this mix of linen and velvet pillows, above.

Another quiet tone on tone color story in the dining room above feels warm and tranquil.

And isn’t this rural retreat above a calm sanctuary!?!

Not Belgium, but the warm white exteriors on the buildings above in the South of France are my idea of timeless beauty.
Belgian Linen Upholstery
Belgian linen is perfect for chair upholstery, and I should know!
As you’ll see later in the post!

I’m crazy about Greet Lefevre’s beautiful Belgian home with its orangery, garden pavilion, and bespoke paneled rooms in the main house.

Isn’t this traditional home breathtaking?

If you’re a fan of Belgian design, a bedroom may be the ideal place to emulate the spirit.
You could add Belgian linen curtains, a throw, pale colors on the wall, and rustic lamps with Belgian design.

Belgian Linen Love & European Country Linen for Home & You
MagicLinen is a brand with a lovely talent for working with natural materials.

Their handmade kitchen linens, bedding and clothing as well as bath linens come in a variety of sophisticated colors.
In addition, their high quality European linen is certified under the OEKO-TEX standard. This certification means it is also good for our health as the linen contains no harmful chemicals.
Psst. If the chambray color above floats yer boat, SEE THIS inspiration!

Why linen? Flax, from which linen is made, is known to be the strongest natural fiber in the world.
So linen products can endure for generations and make perfect sense for timeless and tranquil homes.

Linen is also prized for its thermo-regulating magic which keeps us cool or warm depending on the weather.
Linen’s Beautiful Qualities?
It’s a strong fabric and more durable than cotton or polyester.
It has a timeless quality. I mean, it has been around for thousands of years!

Linen has breatheability so that it wicks away moisture from the skin.
You’ve gotta love a fiber that becomes softer and more wonderful from washing it. Oh that we could all age like linen!
Linen is a wonderful fabric for allergy-prone or sensitive skin.
Here’s a fiber that is good to the earth. Linen is biodegradable, recyclable, organic, and doesn’t need more water than the rainfall the flax plant receives.
Have you noticed that linen doesn’t attract static electricity? I love that!
Wrinkly linen doesn’t necessarily read sloppy. Of course, this is a highly subjective matter, but I am all for not ironing my linen!
How many fabrics actually become more valuable, soft, and desirable with age? Vintage linens often fetch top dollar!
A Favorite Movie Scene & Endearing Song Mentioning Linen
Lay me down in sheets of linen…wait for it!
Are you someone who feels compelled to iron your linen?
Or do you toss it in the dryer?

Because I’m actually okay with its natural look with a few wrinkles.
Doesn’t this feel like an island retreat?

I’m also fond of linen-cotton blends.
And I have never met a linen tee from J. Crew I did not love!

I may have a dozen of them!
Linen napkins are a luxurious touch yet they are perfect for casual gatherings. I love this effortless knot look above.

The only thing better than a linen shift dress is a linen shift with pockets!
I hope you are finding a giggle or two between all the linen lovelies!

How I Live With Linen at Home
It is obviously my favorite and has been for decades!
What does it cover at our house?

Um…what does it not cover?

Chairs, cushions, pillows, sofas, chaises, stools, ottomans, and even boxes of facial tissue!

How does all of this Belgian linen upholstery hold up over the years?

Extremely well!

But let’s face it. Our Belgian linen sofa has been around for about 15 years so there are a few areas with wear.

And you can ask my husband…I absolutely adore that we have worn little holes in the linen!

I do! I think this is so very European of us!

Does it mean we’ll trash the pieces with worn linen? (These counter stools below? Also have some places where the linen is so worn, it is beautifully threadbare.)

Nope!

The worn or threadbare areas can be mended with sweet little linen patches and even decorative sashiko stitching.

Because it’s those “mends” that I find absolutely heartwarming.

They represent the wear and tear and history of our lives…we are using up these investment pieces and not babying them.
Ladies Who Lounge in Linen

I do love wearing fine linen, and who cares if the PJs are a little wrinkly! These are my pajamas:

And here’s my robe:

The slope arm Belgian linen dining chairs still look fabulous and don’t sport any worn spots.

The linen cushion in the window seat is treated so it is in extra fine shape even with all of the visits of our four legged furry grandkids.

I didn’t mind our sweet Bella Luna on the furniture one bit…no shedding left behind, and her paws were always clean since she was more indoorsy.

Is it even any wonder one of the first decor blogs I ever discovered and fell in love with is titled VELVET and LINEN?

I love all the photos, except for the unmade beds. 🙂 Even though it is quite a popular look nowadays, it’s something I will never get used to. Love the one with the bed runner! All the colors of these photos are so soothing and magical.

Thanks so much for being here. 🙂
“Tiny Dancer” always conjures such visceral emotion/memories in my history! My best friend and I headed off to college down the highway in her happy yellow VW Beetle, windows down with Tiny Dancer on repeat on the 8 track tape player, alternately singing/laughing at the top of our lungs! A tender wistful song- thank you for this blissful reminder!
Doesn’t the dryer create yummy softness in linen?! With clothing, I especially prefer that softness created by the dryer and the resulting texture which seems to deny the deep wrinkling you get after ironing and wearing. Linen=relaxed comfort, to me. Perfect for creating a cozy home- in any room!

I do love linen fresh from the dryer. And what a great Elton John memory! My first car was a tan used VW Beetle semi-automatic with holes in the floor which I never repaired. 🙂 I remember happily spray painting the interior. The radio didn’t even work in it! Good gracious, how did we even survive the college years?
Oh, a VW Beetle always had holes in the floor and custom detailing back in the day! Part of their charm… along with iffy stick shifts, broken radios replaced by owner-installed 8 track tape systems. My parents especially were unnerved by Elton John, so cranking it up as I left for college felt so freeing. Surviving college- an absolute miracle for all of us!

Hahaha. Omg, mine was a semi-automatic with the stick but less gears. Just the most unsafe lump of steel that somehow even made it through long trips. College days. Good gracious. I lived on Domino’s pizza, Yoplait, Diet Coke and bagels. 🙂
