With all the gorgeous greening happening right now, I am anxious to get out in it. That is always tricky for DIY real life renovators who are often stuck with a long list of tasks indoors. So while I style our closet makeover to get ready to share it with you (hopefully tomorrow!), you’ll revisit gorgeous French farmhouse Old World style inspiration from a Provence Villa.
Old World Style in a Stunning Provence Villa
What a lovely getaway in France!
Property: Haven In’s Bonnieux Villa in Provence
This vacation getaway rental in the South of France was thoughtfully restored in 2011 and has too many inspiring design elements to list!
Are the gardens captivating? Oui.
Is the size (3,767 square feet) just right for a family reunion or girlfriend getaway? Oui again.
Wouldn’t it be something to gather here and bask in its warmth inside and out!?!
Let’s tour this gorgeous home!
Sunny Yellow Walls & Limestone in a Bath
Everywhere you turn, there’s something rustic, lovely, or elegant to behold.
And how about a rosy glow to go alongside all of the cheerful, cooler green?
Who needs to decorate when the bones are this magnificent? The windows and doors!
Soft greens show up again, this time weathered and faded.
And don’t the rustic wood ceiling beams appear to be energetically alive?
Nothing fancy in here yet still so much luxurious organic goodness. Look at that stone flanking the doors:
Modern French Kitchen Yet Old World Style
While the kitchen has been modernized with all of the amenities, it still retains its charm and cozy feel.
Terracotta tiled floor, old stone walls, white oak cabinetry, and a luxurious range mix beautifully yet nothing feels matchy or contrived.
Isn’t that always the trick when you’re designing from scratch? It’s one thing if you live long enough in one space to collect, experiment, and allow the look to evolve. It’s when we try to make the look come together instantly that we run into issues.
That’s why it helps to train the eye by studying authentic French kitchens and properties where the ingredients inside have been collected over time, where age has come naturally, where function comes first, and where an effortless elegance permeates.
Have another look at the scale of the roots on the tree above and the colors on the bark. Have you ever?
Harmony of Old World Interiors With Exteriors
How in the world would one capture the sunny South of France glow the way this spaces does?
Because there are no paint color names inspired by these interiors!
And there are no youTube tutorials to school us in the art of creating an undecorated, underbaked villa filled with texture and minimal decor.
I always consider myself a slow decorator and a patient sort of homebody who waits for the right objects and plans to appear.
But then I view an Old World property such as this, and I think, OY, I am not patient at all and am struck by the quiet grandeur of such a place that refuses to rush.
And you?
Are you a slow living wannabe?
I’m also struck by the warmth of it all, inside and out.
I am anxious for long days of balmy summer and the sun on my face! For more South of France beauty, see this property offered by Haven In as well:

Peace to you right where you are.

Oh my gosh, you found the perfect getaway! With weather like your’s I bet you’re ready to pack your bags. This looks lovely. Well, enjoy your party and your dreams of warmer climates. And be careful what you wish for. Before you know it you’ll be dealing with those horribly hot, sticky summer months.

That hot summer weather can show up anytime at all…I live for the heat and never wish it away! 🙂
It doesn’t get much better than this Michele! I’m quite sure that if I went there I’d never want to leave. The outdoor spaces are just as beautiful as inside. So natural and welcoming! Have a beautiful Sunday my friend.

dreaming of vacationing with a group there! 🙂
These pictures are beautiful, Michele, and the thought that struck me is, “Authenic life is something we cannot replicate.” It is unique, a slow process of cooperation that develops over time. Wisdom is apparent. With patience we can learn lessons and develop. We can aspire, but trying to copy is futile, much like a toddler wearing her mother’s high heels. Thank you for the reminder that life is to be lived one step at a time.
