Happy Easter! Are you busy in the kitchen getting ready to host a holiday dinner? We’re keeping things very simple with a brunch and a then a hike on the path. Today’s Modern Rustic Romance in a Kitchen With Chicago Brick will appeal if you’re browsing for photos for new build kitchen design plans or kitchen renovation. Is Chicago brick perfect for traditional kitchens? Yes. But what about modern? Yes as well! While it is a warm white modern French kitchen in the spotlight, the overall mood and color scheme transcends a particular design style. Warm, timeless, and nurturing elements combine for a sunny, comforting look that will age well. You’ll note designer Brit Jones loves Old World yet makes it work for modern living.
Quiet grandeur is maybe not always the first thing that comes to mind with brick, but this kitchen proves it can be a fitting description.
We recently toured this Country French home in Texas with interiors by Brit Jones and also explored design elements and shopping resources for its romantic bedrooms HERE.

Reclaimed Chicago Brick
There’s something romantic as well as sensible about incorporating reclaimed materials in new projects. This Chicago girl loves the rosy tones of Chicago brick, and the warm toned rustic material plays a starring role in this French kitchen.
Wait until you see the magic that happens when copper accents are paired with the material!
I also appreciate how the designer had the forethought to snap photos of the kitchen while it was under construction. So helpful to see the process!
For example, here’s the reclaimed Chicago brick before the mortar.
The brick was also installed in a herringbone pattern for flooring and accents.
A Chicago brick backsplash continues to the ceiling on the sink wall creating a dramatic and source of glowing warmth not unlike a crackling fire or warm sunshine.
Custom Cast Stone Vent Hood
To create this magnificent custom cast stone vent hood on site, the material was sprayed on.
Isn’t it beautiful in its simplicity and subtle color echoing the kitchen cabinetry?
Rustic Lantern Pendants
The lantern style lighting works harmoniously with the Chicago brick as well.
The dark finish contrasts with lighter tones throughout and brings a handsome balance to a space with old and new.
Between the glow of the warm brick and the candlestyle lighting, I can just imagine the romantic ambience in the evening here.
Notice how the addition of an architectural arch above the sink area softens the look of the brick and provides a stopping point for it.
With lofty kitchen ceilings, it can be a challenge to know where to stop materials and expanses of backsplash!
Country French Kitchen Design Ideas: Fresh Greenery
Here’s a kitchen decorating idea everyone can apply. Truly there’s nothing like living with real greenery, plants, potted succulents, and living organic flourishes in the kitchen.
Rustic Beamed Ceiling and Floors
While you may accurately refer to this Country French kitchen as a ‘white kitchen,’ there are plenty of elements that aren’t painted or plastered white. You certainly can’t miss all of the rugged wood keeping it from crossing over into oh-so-precious or glam territory.
See the warmth of wood where you look up, look down, and are seated.
Honed Arabescato Marble Countertops
Pastel Accents in a Chicago Brick Kitchen
It is a kitchen which seems perfectly suited for quiet, faded, timeworn accent colors such as blush and aqua. The rosy hue of the brick is repeated pleasingly in soft pink whispers.
Aren’t the tones in this runner lovely?
Here’s a rug in a similar spirit, albeit with cooler tones. I can imagine the rosy pink/terracotta working with those tones in the brick:

Paint Colors in Country French Kitchen & Laundry Room
Additionally, the paint color on walls and cabinetry in this kitchen is SHERWIN WILLIAMS Alabaster.
Alabaster was also used in this beautiful home’s butler pantry/coffee room, along with Sherwin Williams Uncertain Gray for trim.
How sweet is this little gem of a space off the kitchen which could function for any number of purposes beyond storage?
I’m thinking I’d love a wee little office with a door, tucked away near the kitchen.
Herringbone Chicago Brick for Laundry Room Floor
Had to share peeks of this laundry room in this home since it truly illustrates the beauty of that reclaimed Chicago brick used as flooring.
