Wallpaper is one of those design elements that some people adore and others abhor! It is definitely trending at the moment, but folks have covered walls with pretty patterns and texture forever. It tickles me to think that in just a few years, if wallpaper falls from favor and minimal design is THE thing, there will be a strong need for laborers who specialize in wallpaper removal. 🙂 That’s the the thing about trends. They stimulate industries and economies. Here are some beautiful wallpaper examples to inspire.
An Eclectic Mix of Interiors With Beautiful Wallpaper
Let’s start with a discussion of 2023 trends. Learn about what wallpaper is particularly peaking in popularity:
No Need to Cover the Whole Wall
What a gorgeous example of celebrating a gorgeous, classic, timeless handpainted pattern while putting it to work hiding a television as the Giannettis did at Patina Farm.
Lining a wardrobe is also genius:
Don’t you love that Pimpernel pattern? You can also wallpaper a closet and USE that closet for something other than simply storage…

Beautifully Decorated Powder Baths
So many folks choose wallpaper for a powder bath to make a dramatic statement.
It makes so much sense since you’ll be less likely to tire of it quickly, and your visiting guests who use it will love the surprise.
Not that I would ever tire of this paper and pattern repeated in fabric. If you fall in love with a floral or particular fabric – have at it!
Classic Wallpaper Patterns to Love
Certain patterns just seem to grow in popularity!
Need ideas for nature-themed wallpapers that caught my eye?
I just love how my pal Kathy Sue used the delft blue with gorgeous gilded lighting!
Quiet Colors in Timeless Interiors
There’s a place for bold color, and there’s a place for more understated pretty options.
Ahhhhhh – I would never tire of these colorways!
I’m still in love with grisaille and tonal patterns which can feel modern, atmospheric, and ethereal.
Nuvolette can be amazing on ceilings, in dining rooms, in baths, and in nurseries.
Have you lived with wallpaper with a cloud pattern? I have a thing for trees if you hadn’t noticed.
And I’m not alone…
Designer Choices Tend to Influence Our Wallpaper Shopping
It’s easier than ever to see a particular wallpaper pattern in a variety of places thanks to social media. So if you love Schumacher’s Pyne Hollyhock which is favored by my pal Sherry Hart…
You can search it on Pinterest, Google, and hashtags on IG.
It’s also helpful to see large expanses of the paper when designers share images since looking at a little swatch can be nerve wracking when you’re close to committing to a pattern.
de Gournay Wallpaper
When you’re “budget unconscious” and love all things European inspired, pretty, timeless, and high style, you just may want your walls covered in de Gournay.
Pink or green?
Because I’m not sure you can go wrong when they are this beautiful:
Aren’t those checkered floors happy?
Ever wonder how de Gournay designs come to life? No need to wonder:
Parisian Interiors With Wallpaper
The wallcoverings in this amazing hotel my husband and I stumbled upon in 2012 when in Paris definitely left an impression.
Here’s another suite in Pavillon de la Reine:
A few years later, I discovered this wallpaper mural which I have used in two homes now:
The mural wallpaper plays a starring role in our entry and above the fireplace. This particular product from Photowall is super easy to install (you paint the wall with paste rather than the paper) and not expensive so I highly recommend it…FIND IT HERE.
Whimsical Wallpaper to Inspire
I’m not intimidated by wallpaper because we have been installing it since the 80s when we moved into our first apartment.
But even if you have yet to add a wallpaper to your space, I say go for it.
Because there are so many gorgeous choices, and if you can’t find the perfect pattern, you can always design your own.
You truly can! Plenty of companies allow you upload patterns and photos for a custom design.
I hope these designs get your wheels turning and inspire your own plans at home.
Peace to you right where you are.

I was unable to find the “hidden television” in all these beautiful photos. Can you help?

Hahaha – I need to make that clearer – in the Velvet and Linen photo of the Giannetti living room at Patina FArm – the Gracie wallpaper panels are hiding the TV. 🙂
