Even though our progress seems to be slow and dragging on, we are making some strides on the kitchen at the new house. I continue to collect timeless kitchen inspiration for the new kitchen and hope you’ll be inspired too!
Timeless Kitchen Inspiration for Our Renovation
So many decisions and details, and I’ll share the plan with you soon. We’re trying to renovate this kitchen a bit more delicately, preserving cabinetry, molding, and some appliances.
However, now that we’re in the throes of it all, I can attest that such a decision creates all sorts of headaches.
I now understand that gutting a space and beginning anew with everything has its charms!
While I have never lived with open shelving in the kitchen, I’m interested in exploring the prospect!
I would also love to collect beautiful skinny doors like those above for our pantry. (Not even sure I want to have a door on our walk-in pantry though!
Here are a collection of ideas inspiring me from gorgeous, if not fantasy-level design projects around the web.
My kitchen is not likely to resemble the glorious one in a Houston home on the market (above), but that won’t stop me from studying what makes it so special.
What makes these designs timeless? Classic?
Natural materials, thoughtful architecture, fine craftsmanship, and a reverence for tradition.
While I love the marble I see in these inspiring kitchens, it will be a white quartz for me as I already know I love living with it.
Also, I am a messy cook who prefers to skip the more unforgiving porous nature of stone.
However, we did find a beautiful calacatta gold marble we love for the backsplash. A mix of quartz and natural stone worked well in our last home.
I would love to fill this kitchen with real plants, and I’m trying to keep a few alive through this dusty, laborious renovation process. I have this cute terrarium (below) which may help. I’m thinking about tweaking it with gold paint for a fancy gilded more French effect.
I’m also dreaming about maybe replacing the ceramic tiled floor (it’s a terracotta look) with the warmth of wood.
And I love the faucet (above)…so classic that I imagine it will never fall from favor. As for paint colors, I’m leaning toward Pavilion Gray (at 50-60%) for cabinets or just island.

Thank you! We made some great strides on it over the weekend but things are about to get worse again since we need to demo tile and make a big ol’ mess!
Ooooo. Thank you for the wonderful kitchen inspiration! I had open shelving in my last home and LOVED it! I miss it so much in my new home, that I’m seriously considering a kitchen reno. I miss seeing my pretty dishes and baking ingredients in jars on display. Plus, open shelving afforded such easy access to everything.

Yay! Glad you liked. Have been living without cabinets (and essentially a kitchen) for months and getting used to seeing things and the ease of accessibility. Getting closer but still not at that decorating stage. Haven’t even cleaned the inside of cabinets and drawers yet! 🙂
