House Tour: Inspiring Provence French Farmhouse
Bastide de Castillon is a five bedroom, five bath, 2,691 s.f. Provence vacation rental in the village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard offered by Haven In. I learned about Haven In when we sought an apartment to rent in Paris, and the firm manages properties across Europe.
French Farmhouse Courtyard & Garden
Outdoors, Bastide de Castillon boasts a courtyard and terrace, swimming pool, dining space, and lush gardens with fruit trees.
Of course we we can always use some inspiring words to refresh and challenge our mindsets.
Oh this dappled light! Sunshiny summer, come soon!
Mary Oliver’s sense of the sacredness of nature ,of the fullness of living continues to bear fruit even though she is no longer with us.
Stone French Farmhouse in Provence
This historic stone farmhouse in picturesque Côtes-du-Rhône wine country was renovated and thoughtfully yet effortlessly decorated and outfitted with modern conveniences.
The bastide makes an ideal getaway which will sleep up to 10 people.
Can you even get over the way this doorway was customized?
And how can any decor compete with such amazing good bones?
French Farmhouse Interior Design
Inspiring interior design elements include original stone walls, traditional style antique furniture, warm red accents, rustic wood beams, and a modernized kitchen.
Can you even imagine living with stone floors, walls, and even stairs?
Psst. Being brave and afraid at the same time is not something we were ever taught in school (and maybe not at home either).
It seems to me life in the 2020s demands we learn or relearn such wisdom.
I have a sconce similar to the one above, and just a reminder that if you come across an electrified candle style sconce you love, you can always remove the wiring and pop candles in there!
It is unexpected to see modern acrylic counter stools…but it’s a property open to guests after all.
I just bought a faucet like the one below for a sink at the new house and love the traditional style.
Also, in a tight space, who needs a pedestal to the floor?
One of my favorite subtle design details in here is how the soft French grey painted window trim workds with the warm golden stone surrounding it.
Do you like the combination too?
There is nothing like old windows that welcome in a breeze and view like this!
Love a chunky, thick tufted cushion?
Even the wood ceiling seems sunny!
Do you like the easy breezy look of no rug under the dining table?
Here’s a cozy moment happening beneath a window…what a perfect spot to study or work remotely…
What say ye about this color combination?
While I can’t live with reds, as reds go, this juicy one is not half bad.
Romantic French Interiors & Pale Palette
What a surround for a bed!
More of that rosy red in a bedroom…
Just a reminder in case you’re apt to be too hard on yourself…
Peachy tones in here…
How wonderful so much original rustic gorgeousness was preserved…
More French country florals in a traditional bedroom:
Another reminder that it’s the mix of feelings and welcoming that mix that constitutes brave living of your one wild life.
Frenchy stripes and flowers along with French green shutters are about as country French as you can get!
Let’s not forget about the exterior…

How exciting to be buying a second home in France! Medieval is not my idea of charming though. A beautiful apartment with tall ceilings, extensive moldings, tall windows & doors with billowy drapes, marble fireplace, wrought iron balcony…yes!
I hope you are feeling better soon, Michele! I’ll send good wishes across the miles in hopes they bring you some respite from ill health.
I can’t even imagine! Sounds like it’s a Paris apartment floating your boat. Trying to rest and recover and be patient. 🙂
“Be Gentle to All and Stern with Yourself.” I disagree with the second part. I think we need to practice some self love. We need to accept our failings and not fall prey to the idea of perfection. Life is too short to beat oneself up over the little things. So I would say “Be Gentle to All, Especially Yourself”.
I pin many of your sayings but this one bothered me so I had to come back and address it.
Interesting. ‘Stern’ didn’t land on my brain harshly and strikes me as a version of ‘check yourself before you wreck yourself’ or even ‘save those high standards for yourself.’ Yet I am with you on gentleness and am glad this quote is not by me! 🙂
You DO have your OWN lovely French farmhouse! And I love your Nearly Natural plants! I’m ordering a tree from them to-day! A safer bet for me since I don’t have the greenest thumb! 😉But I have some real smaller ones to mix in with it. I’m so excited to add this to our home! Bringing the outdoors in …one of my favorite decor philosophies. Thanks so much for sharing this source with us!
Hahaha – well if you use your imagination and stretch the meaning of ‘farm’ I guess I do! 🙂 I hope you’ll be happy with your tree. Now that I have the everlasting olive tree and agave, I’m feelin tropical! 🙂
Lovely thank you for sharing. Stopping by to check on you and let you know you are missed. xo
Thanks for visiting – I actually contributed to TFT this week – but it’s easy to get overlooked there!
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST LOVELY HOUSE FARMS THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN. THIS FARM HOUSE SHOWS ENTHUSIASM FOR COLOUR AND CREATIVITY. MOST FARM HOUSES ARE VERY BLAND.
