After that lovely French Nordic Christmas cottage tour, my mind turned to soulful Swedish and chic French inspired interiors. The serenely warm, spare, and sophisticated variety that evoke a meditative mood of etheriality. While Hello Lovely profiles rustic country looks and farmhouse design ideas more often than classic, today we’ll WANDER and DREAM. We’ll journey beyond the shabby and shiplap horizon. Not that shiplap is over. How can anything be over when you chuck the rulebook right out of the French steel casement, kittycats? Ever Dream of Chic Modern French & Swedish Inspired Interiors? Because I do.
Ever Dream of Chic Modern French Swedish Inspired Interiors?
Let’s get inspired by classic architecture, quiet palettes, understated design elements, playful scale, breathing room, and atmosphere for miles.
Could your space use texture or character? Both certainly flow in harmony here:
Would you mind reporting to work if your meeting room resembled this (below)?
Modern French & Modern Swedish Nooks & Neutrals
Why don’t we start giving smaller bedrooms the respect they deserve since they are ripe with cozy potential? In America, so often, we cannot get over wall to wall furniture. What a retreat when the eye can rest, and the architecture can soothe.
Will white + black + natural tones ever feel outdated? So timeless!
The combination works in any number of spaces:
and is awe-inspiring when reflected in a Stockholm winter cityscape (thank you, Mon of Splendid Avenue…I spotted this beauty on your feed).
Speaking of neutral palettes, I admire how designer Beth Webb mixes neutrals and texture:
Pretty Things With More Traditional Gustavian or French Nordic Style
There is something so soothing about chalky blue greys and pale tones.
This pretty Swedish blue caught my eye too. Wouldn’t it be precious in a laundry room or even a pantry?
Again, with the distressed blue paint on this cupboard that I can never ever get out of my consciousness after seeing it years ago in Milieu.
Were you aware that checkered patterns and ginghams are having a moment that is stretching long?
My mama has this fabric on her Swedish dining chairs, and it just never gets boring to us.
Swedish Accent Chest
It is difficult to not crush on scalloped cuties like this…and the hardware!
I showed you a pretty Amber Lewis x Loloi rug next to our bed, and this herringbone pattern could be sweet in any number of spaces:
What sort of lamp gets your heart racing? Slightly fancy formal?
Or unfussy and sculptural?
For a Queen’s Boudoir!
My friend Coleen will create a future heirloom for you:
Gold With Pale French & Swedish Palettes
A design trend we’re seeing everywhere in kitchens is larger pendant lighting instead of lots of itty bitty shades hanging over monstrous islands.
I have always wanted one of these beauties:
Wouldn’t it be gorgeous over this?

Good Friday morning Michelle, it is funny because I don’t live in a white/cream house but I love the look. My stylish is English country, paisleys, dark leather, etc. In fact the sitting room/former dining room is painted Indigo Batik. But I am drawn to these beautiful white spaces. This house is stunning, not sparse as one would image but comfy, cozy and a feast for the eyes. I love the kitchen island and have pinned it as inspiration for the kitchen we are designing. Have a wonderful weekend my friend!

That is why we’re kindred! I love so many different styles of timeless design – those soulful spaces that are layered with bits of the past but live in a modern way. I love modern rooms in their spare beauty and feel quite at home in a minimal room. An indigo dining room sounds gorgeous, and I’m ready for a tour if ever you’re game to share glimpses on Hello Lovely. 🙂 Thank you for your warmth, your friendship, your gracious hospitality and love. Give those pups a kiss from me. xox
