Today’s Coastal Cottage Inspo, Paint Colors & Whimsy Quotes features design elements and decor infused with breezy, laid back luxe. In the spotlight? Coastal style’s best friends: blue and white, and mostly the softer chambray-ish side. I mean, who can resist blue hydrangea bliss? (Discover and repin more inspiration HERE, pretty please.) Lisa Furey’s glorious compound (it’s actually three structures) continues to inspire me, and whether you call it modern farmhouse or modern country or just casual coastal, it’s lovely. Also, check out the mood boards below with ideas to capture the look of a coastal cottage bedroom, living room, and kitchen.

Coastal Cottage Inspo, Paint Colors & Whimsy Quotes
Sophisticated & Neutral Classic Bedroom
We don’t often see beadboard painted in this mink shade, do we? Need a paint color idea to try? I painted the pedestal of our round dining table this sophisticated neutral, BEHR Garden Wall:
It’s one of those colors that you can’t quite pin down as a khaki or light taupe or stone. It is all of those. And should you be in the market for a vintage earthenware crock, confit jar, or rustic planter from France, check HERE.

What’s up with the coastal fever on Hello Lovely? I am clearly in ENDLESS SUMMER mode, so bring it on, mama! Onward with inspiration from lakeside cabins, fantasy beach houses, and cozy bungalows by the sea since they all suggest a slower pace, peaceful unplugged time, and a restful atmosphere.

Cottage Kitchen Ideas to Get the Look
I created the mood board (below) to consider and pin to your kitchen Pinterest boards. You’ll notice the color palette leans grey more than blue, in step with my own kitchen: neutral with light grey, white and black. Light wood tones warm the mood along with a mix of metals (but not too many!) as well as nautical (yet not kitschy) nods.
Ever dreamed of designing a coastal cottage kitchen? My own kitchen has breezy charm and design elements such as white oak hardwood flooring, Benjamin Moore White OC-151 painted walls and bead board, a fireclay apron front sink, bridge faucet.
Misty Grey Accent Paint Color Idea
Psssst. Is anyone springing for the fantasy La Cornue range on that kitchen board? Hey. When mama needs another pop of black and the warmth of gold on her coastal cottage kitchen mood board, she may as well shoot the moon! Here’s another dreamy range with a friendlier price point than the La Cornue.
Back to bizness. And try not to notice I am craving tacos.
Sigh.
Blue Paint Color Ideas
Coastal Sophisticated Blue Paint Color Idea
The wall color in this powder bath may be BM Andes Summit (maybe just the lighting making it look different?) since the designer used that blue elsewhere. However, in this photo the blue appears more muted and similar to a color used in our prior home for a coastal bath: BEHR Deep Shale:
Easiest way to see if a color is right? Order samples to be delivered to your door with Samplize (a peel and stick sheet of “paint” to stick on your wall and easily move around to other walls!).

Indigo Pillows to Love
I searched for the fabric used for these custom pillows and found it for you…yay! It’s called Andromeda Japanese Style linen in indigo from Schumacher. I have had lots of custom pillows created by sewers on Etsy, and here are some possibilities in case you love the look:

Coastal But Not Kitschy Bath
Pine Cone Hill Bedding
The designer chose bedding from Pine Cone Hill, and my experience with this brand is all positive…I have relied on Pine Cone Hill for years now for curtains, bedding, pillows, and fabric. Designer Annie Selke is one of my design heroes!
Cottage Entry’s Beautiful Built-in
One of my favorite design elements in this beautiful main house? The blue painted built-in, conveniently located near the front door. I think I’d rather have a smart and attractive piece like this for storage than a larger closet with awful bifold doors (which is what I’m currently living with).
I also love the timeless style of the bench designer Lisa Furey chose for the entryway. It could go in any number of spaces, and I can imagine designing a bedroom or dining room around the piece!

I love a coastal look , especially when its not “themed” . Do you have any idea what color the wall is painted in the picture with the pedestal sink ? It’s a kind of blue gray. We are painting my husband’s office – it already has white board and batten about 1/3 way up and we are looking for a nautical blue gray that’s not too dark ( the office is in an attic bedroom with only one dormer window).
Thanks for sharing

I think it very well may be BM Andes Summit since the designer stayed rather consistent with her colors, and this powder bath is likely in the main house where she used the color on a built-in in the entry. But that color is a true blue without grey. Photography and editing can make colors appear slightly different so bear that in mind. If you are after a blue-grey, then I would definitely steer you toward greys and not blues. Even if the paint swatch says grey – it could easily read blue grey with the blue undertones of the color. You might like what we painted our powder room in our prior home: https://rstyle.me/+zAK_C7sjvuyQlSjDn4cHng It’s Behr Deep Shale, and I loved its sophistication. I never changed it which says something. There was no natural light in that bath btw. I also had a pedestal sink in the space and white trim. See what you think!
Love the Deep Shale . I think it’s got a moody nautical look that would work well with the right white board and batten. You are a jewel!

Hello, for information. I have identical indigo cushions to those featured which I bought from Ikea at a very reasonable price, looking lovely on my white sofas. Best wishes, Sue.

Wow! Thanks for the tip!
hello like to know your idea on gray kitchen cabinets and the wall color to match

Hi there. A lot of designers like Repose Gray for their gray kitchen cabinets (see these stories: https://www.hellolovelystudio.com/?s=repose+gray) and I have painted kitchen cabinets Behr Classic Silver (which read very blue-grey with the strong Southwest sunlight pouring in the space) and Sherwin Williams Carbonized for a very deep dark charcoal (see it here: https://www.hellolovelystudio.com/2020/11/condo-makeover-on-a-budget.html). You might also type grey paint colors into the search box on my home page to get ideas for paints to sample.
