While it may be the month of Maying, this dreary rainy day on the prairie is dismaying. Getting lost within the pages of a beautiful shelter magazine like Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and sipping green tea even sounds perfectly nourishing and like a cozy good time for a mostly introverted design freak. But, oh, the prospect of seeing exceptional design IN PERSON! That would chase away this grey day and energize the spirit. So I am staring down the calendar, imagining how a trip to the peach state could be squeezed in to visit the Southeastern Designer Showhouse 2019 in Atlanta. There’s law school graduation and visiting guests to consider, but who knows?
Atlanta History Center: 1928 Swan House, designed by Philip T. Shutze for the Inman family. The house is operated as part of the Atlanta History Center and is maintained as a 1920’s and 30’s historic house museum.
I am always breathless when I see the photo galleries surface after this particular event. This year’s showhouse opens May 9-June 2, 2019, where the brilliance of top Southeastern designers becomes available to behold in person. I’m shining a spotlight on this magnificent event which benefits the Atlanta History Center, and maybe you’ll be inspired to take the tour!
This year’s showhouse in Atlanta is a new estate designed by architecture firm Logan Design Group and built by Southern Gentry Homes. Sponsored by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and benefiting the Atlanta History Center, the Southeastern Designer Showhouse enfolds within a newly built estate on a 14-acre pondside lot.
The design style of the home? Transitional with design elements including: natural wood, painted brick, stone, slate and iron. Within the newly built showhouse with interiors designed by tastemakers in the South, we’ll discover abundant natural light, magnificent roof overhangs, and a main floor master suite.
Get a feel for the caliber of design greatness to expect from a glance back at last year’s loveliness…

My favorite Atlanta designer, Sherry Hart of Design Indulgence, snapped these stunning photos from last year’s showhouse, and I’m so grateful we can still savor them and be inspired by fine traditional style design.

I may or may not have three gorgeously timeless marble bowls upon my counter this very instant…two littles hold seasoning blends, and another larger one cradles kitchen essentials.

Can you even get over the subdued-feminine-springlike color from that Beth Webb designed living room? If you live anywhere near Atlanta, put this tour on your calendar!
Sherry, thanks for sharing these beautiful glimpses and keeping us thoroughly inspired on your blog. I hope you will be snapping away this year again since I am not sure I can get away to tour the showhouse!
Also. If you know the right people, pretty please ask them to expedite the arrival of May flowers and send Georgia temperatures to Northern Illinois!

I always love coming here to see the beautiful homes. I feel my blood pressure go down, thanks to the tasteful palettes. And your upbeat outlook is infectious–just the thing as I need to get going.
It’s why I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Your blog is a ray of sunshine when the Internet is too often a dark and scary place. Details on my blog–I have questions for you!
You are so kind to me! Thank you for this nomination and for bringing so much light to my days with your strong writing and helpful posts. I am humbled. 🙂
It’s always so fun to go to design houses. I hope you get to go to this one. I’m buying tickets today in fact to visit the Pasadena Show House, which just opened and since it’s close to home I get to go most years. They are always so inspirational.
Ooooh – that will be a great show house! I’ll look forward to the inspiration, Celia. The one near me – Lake Forest has been postponed until 2020, and my favorites tend to be the coastal and southern living ones. 🙂
Having lived in Atlanta for many years, the designer show house was always a favorite spring time event. But I must admit, what I really miss are the house tours in Ansley. Oh. So. Amazing. Thank you for the lovely memories and for enjoying all of the impeccable details in these beautiful rooms. (Nice to meet you via Taste of France!)
Great to meet you, D.A. – how I would love to tour this year’s show house! Thanks so much for visiting – I’ll be happily discovering your site soon. Congrats, sunshine! 🙂
