Not only will you discover the serene and sensual design work of Chicago’s own Michael Del Piero, you will see it interpreted in three distinctly beautiful projects: a showhouse, a residence, and a shop with studio.
Rustic Refined Interior Design in the Hamptons
Del Piero’s well established design firm and shop in Chicago (Michael Del Piero Good Design – 428 N Wolcott Ave, Chicago, IL 60622) now has a hip counterpart in the Hamptons, where the designer has worked and vacationed for decades.
Just wait until you see the moody interiors and heavily textured walls in that renovated barn turned European manor inspired shop!
If you have followed Hello Lovely, you are well acquainted with this blog’s favored design aesthetic (TIMELESS and TRANQUIL). MDP’s work uniquely reflects a timeless and tranquil mood with decidedly restrained, monastic-yet-modern, atmospheric strokes of genius. I have visited some of the work in person and feel so at home in its hushed wonder.
Modern art mingles with: ancient pottery, minimalist luxury, bohemian drama, rustic textures, and character-rich finds curated by Del Piero on her travels.
It’s the age of the collected treasures that whisper, the intelligent proportions that tease, and the sophistication of the mix that surely evoke wow factor. Yet it’s the nameless, spiritually informed, quietly pared-down purity of her designs which create pause and demand linger factor. (Memo to self: trademark ‘linger factor.’)
You simply cannot Uber over to your local ZEN supplier and request linger factor.
No, madame. For there are secrets within secrets layered tastefully inside those expertly designed spaces where contemplation, peaceful living, and wellness may bloom.
May I show you what I mean?

Michael Del Piero: 2017 Hampton Designer Showhouse Dining Room
Located in Wainscott in the Hamptons, a new shop and studio for interior designer Michael Del Piero expands the esteemed firm’s presence and now more easily satisfies the many requests for her work on the island.
The Shop and Studio: Part Charming European Country Manor, Part Chic Hamptons Modern Barn
About the Space…The artful and the earthy harmonize within a renovated white log barn location in East Hampton with retail on the first level and a studio on the second. It is indeed a unique environment for discerning admirers of rough luxe style. Also unique to the Hamptons location? Del Piero’s pal, interior designer Lukas Machnik.
The Barn Style Home Concept…
This isn’t your typical beachy white Hamptons look. Firstly, think nubby textures, rustic finishes, organic warmth, and one of a kind global finds. Second, it features a modern kitchen with long farm table to accommodate 20. Thirdly, exclusive to this location, MDP partnered with Monogram for kitchen appliances to showcase their new cutting edge luxury line. The modern kitchen in this chic space is graced with favored Monogram pieces, “to illuminate their range and versatility within our signature good design!”
Those WALLS Though…
You can’t miss (or resist touching!) showstopping plaster walls which are the artful work of Hyde Park Mouldings. The walls were plastered with a lime washed textural finish to mimic the texture of those found in an old European manse. Del Piero notes the lime wash is “a finish we plan to use often with its ‘instant interest’ effect.” Stone and plaster finish samples are also available to view in the studio.
Resources in the Studio…
You’ll discover globally sourced objects within the studio in addition to fabrics and rugs (in collaboration with Oscar Isberian).

I’m officially overwhelmed with the beauty and awesomeness of this post! Michael’s work is absolute magic to me. How does she do it?! I mostly love the textures, the plaster walls, the ART! This is one that I will look at over and over. I hope you’re feeling a bit better❤️
Whatever she does, she does with a whole lot of restraint and sky high taste factor! Thanks for playing along. I AM feeling a little better and hope to improve each day. 🙂
