It is the third official day of autumn, and I’m morrrrrreeeee than ready to sip hot cider by a fire as the air chills. Where is my plaid throw and UGGs now that leaves outside are dancing on the air? Is there anything God desires more than such movement deeper into soul? I’m strong even while weak and hope a gentler season comes. Are you weary? You are worthy of a reprieve from any chaos or madness, but allow yourself to be weary. If you feel alone, feel it AND remember you have a friend with a lonely soul here. She will remind you how you were created perfectly to be loved. From a quiet, ambient corner in the heartland, a blonde blind beggar of a mystic held together with duct tape, holds you in the castle of her heart; beams light right where you are.

Undoing fussy or contrived is not always a cake walk. Our Georgian style home felt anything but home-y or relaxed when we became its caretakers.
Our over the top fancy stairs, formal moldings, reflective glossy floors, and heavy dark cherry everything exuded a hands-off, please-dust-me-hourly mood that was both repellent and distracting from views of nature just outside the door.
It took us months of work to ease our home into a fresher, friendlier identity, and even then, “cozy” seemed out of reach with the existing architecture.
That’s why it is helpful to uncover the spirit and underlying sensibilities you’re after within yourself first.
Choices flow from that stream, and you truly can purify, refine, and nourish it.
While our sitting/living room doesn’t scream a particular design style, it is rather modern rustic:
