I shared an eclectic collection of beautiful interiors and fall moments HERE, and as I watch the sunset maple in our front yard turn, somehow I know all will be well and all will be well and all manner of things will be well. How could I know such things with too many hearts aching, with so much restlessness? No intellectual answers to satisfy your appetite for knowledge here. I only know where wonder is alive and well, where truth is flourishing, there is hope.

Frenchy Autumn Vibes, Light & Learning
My beloved and I hiked in the woods near our home yesterday, and the dappled light through towering trees took my breath away.

There’s a little entrance to a path at the back of our lot which winds through the forest preserve where a beautiful creek flows.

That path leads to a clearing where our next door neighbor’s middle aged son (who attended high school with our sons) was preparing the space for his bride.

Wine barrels, pumpkins, wind chimes, and a wood altar look right at home in this backyard paradise.

He asked if it would be okay if the path from our yard could become the processional.

While we were invited to the wedding reception happening in a few days, we weren’t aware they would be married outdoors, right next door.

What a lovely surprise!

They will have gorgeous weather, autumnal paradise as a backdrop to their wedding memories, and love will be alive and flowing in this place we have cherished.

Is love blooming in your October?

I hope you are filling with it in fresh ways, allowing it to stretch and mold you into something new. New? If you have yet to secure your copy of FRENCH COUNTRY COTTAGE SEASONS (Gibbs Smith, 2026) by Courtney Allison, you will want to add it to your collection! The page I have my copy opened to (above, right) is my favorite in the whole volume. I want to live within the light and magic of this unforgettable space!

Merci beaucoup, Courtney, I love your book so much. Thank you for sharing these intimate glimpses of little romantic worlds where dreams can awake and whispery gatherings inspire delight.
The winds will begin to roar soon here, and so I am savoring the gentle autumn light, candles, cozying down with books, the deer arriving daily to the yard (in their splendor and beauty!) and gratitude expanding in my heart (even as it holds a mix of cares).

Comfort Food
Apple crisp is always bubbling away here. I recall the declaration of my pal Elizabeth of Pinecones and Acorns that apple crisp is a health food, and I’m quite sure she has confirmed that with science and the proper authorities. 🙂
I do hope you won’t debate the issue with me. 🙂 *steps away from desk to check pantry for apple crisp ingredients*

I’m so glad this lovely food blogger book lover takes the time to create delightful tablescapes through the seasons. Of course, pulling off a “simple” look is typically not all that simple.

I have soooooo much respect for stylists!

Sometimes I do.

Brooke’s feed, Velvet and Linen is a timeless, enchanting and enduring delight.

But I simply don’t want to.

What a joy it will be to visit Patina Home & Garden again soon.
