Autumn in the midwest swirls with sweater weather soul awakening changes and energetic preparation. Days are shortening, chlorophyll is breaking down, and songbird migrations to the south are overhead. Lately I have found myself on trails where the volume of chirping busy squirrels building and gathering is nearly deafening. Creatures and plants are preparing to stay, leave, sleep, survive. If you allow it, the landscape becomes a spiritual school for lessons of pruning and harvest.
A collection of sweater weather feels reflects glimmers of October goodness. Will you snap photos of fall color, pumpkin patches, and peak foliage? Will you dare to be in the sacred nakedness of the now without projecting illusion? This will require surrender and awareness. Left entirely to my own devices, I will rush and not savor; so I turn to my soul.
Sweater Weather Soul & Savoring
Fall inspiration speaks to the beauty of change visible and hidden in nature.

There are more distractions from its authentic beauty in modern culture than ever. Tethered to phone screens and feeds, what will capture our hearts and wallets?
Is It Also the Fall of Authenticity?
Artificial and tech-generated everything bloom in their full Fall colors, and it’s not my cup of tea. I struggle to see how ramping up productivity as a virtue is ultimately benefiting our species and planet.

I am not seeing calm ease increase as sources of getting it done faster soar.

I haven’t noticed fear diminishing with these winds of upheaval and the chill of uncertain measures of “progress.”

What beauty will we seek to protect from a sense of deep reverence?

What will we sacrifice for wider profit margins?

I consider the supreme beauty blooming in friendship as vulnerable, fleshy beings see, hear, and taste the really real of earth and the divine.

The Beauty Question
How might we do our part to create more beauty and protect that beauty which is ours to protect?
Is this at the heart of saving the webs of the world’s glorious architecture?

Surely we must answer this first in our deeper selves. Winter’s long pared-down rest is coming, and first there is this season of profound fullness to accept as blessing.

Wherever you are in the season, wherever you call home, I wonder if we feel the same stirrings to empty ourselves like the leaves do. To become a blanket of warmth as the ground hardens and rains come.

In today’s uncertain milieu, will we wait for others to activate changes we hope to witness or are we willing to become agents in a conspiracy of hope?
Me? Find me gazing into the my soul’s purpose more than any LED screen.

The questions I see there matter.

Who are you, and what is true?

Country Cottage French Beauty
If all of this soulkeeping seems somehow removed from the beauty of fall decor, cozy cottages, and houses wearing flowers, I must accept my own limitations for expressing the preciousness flowing through it all.

Sometimes a harvest dinner with family and friends may be as simple as sharing seasonal vegetables, fruit, cheese and cured meats together.

But with the right lens and purity of spirit, that gathering and communion with autumn may invite heaven to move closer.

Serene Fall Beauty
Because I am not inclined to rush, in Fall, I notice the subtle changes light brings to all things inside and out.

It transforms the ordinary and directs my attention to the beauty of pattern, color, and texture in all things.

Light transforms and heals me right where I am whenever I dare to still and gaze with the eyes of my soul.

Could you benefit from more stillness to hear the holy and feel with fingers of faith?
Remembering a Renovation
Several autumns ago, this is where the fruits of our DIY were savored:
The seasons past too quickly now, and I easily turn misty-eyed considering the brevity of our time here.
What is mine to create, transform, and empower with my time left?

Where will I direct healing energies flowing through me as a vessel?
How will I keep the vessel pure and strong?
It’s a journey, and this journey is my own.

As we enter these remaining months of 2026, my heart swells with wonder at all of the beauty and joy arising within the depths of my soul even as a dismantling of historic structures there occur.
Even as physical health diminishes and deepens the redemption story. We can never truly know the fullness, reconciliation, or future coming to a thing with a momentary glance at the surface.

What a miracle when Grace penetrates layers of protective coverings concealing treasure.

Scent I Wear in Fall

Thinking of you. Grateful for how my consciousness is allowed to stream here and reach souls I will never meet. Thank you for sharing this journey to grow. I hope we will not rush through this season before it teaches us new wisdom. May we keep each other awake with wonder as beauty finds its way inside.
