Are signs of new hope blooming? My allergies say the season is a-changin’! In this, my seventh decade of life, I am amazed at how attuned my body, mind, and soul are to nature’s changing seasons. Seeds of hope? I think so. What will this brand new SPRING we have never before seen bring? A new friend? Romance? A new hobby? New vocation? Loss? Find quotes to pin in a spirit of innocence, wholeness, and wholesomeness. Maybe a thought here will take root.
Springtime Wholeness & Nourishing the Spirit
A Life in Light
Last nighth I finished reading the memoir A LIFE IN LIGHT: Meditations on Impermanence by Mary Pipher and sort of came undone.
Something about the innocence inside Pipher’s wise reflections and lens on the sacred. Where has innocence exited my life in significant ways?

How am I missing opportunities where my heart is safe to thaw and soften?

I was suddenly aware of the absence of innocence in my life and full of longing for more. Perhaps it need not stay lost. We are creative beings after all, and all things are possible with God.

I have read more books this winter than the past few years, and I’ll try to share more responses to them along with recommendations in the days ahead.
Spring Quotes
While I have posted easy-to-share inspirational quotes since this blog’s inception (January of 2010) and before the dawn of Pinterest, we do seem to lean into them more than ever in the 2020s.

Ahhhhh the 2020s. What will our great great grandchildren write about us and this chapter of history?

Will struggling societal systems be relics then? What new wisdom and answers shine on the horizon?

While I muddle through assorted health issues daily, I am seeing the whole of my life with fresh eyes these days.
If the last five or so years were about self-awareness, this new chapter feels marked by growth and maturity.
Personal transformation is uncomfortable because within me is a strong resistance to change patterns that served for decades.
In this new consciousness, only what is true ALL THE TIME and THROUGHOUT TIME seems to serve me.

Seek the Grace for What You Cannot Carry Alone
If you have manage to live freely this way all by yourself with willpower, I bow to you. Me? Ever reliant on holy companions and endless stores of grace.
As I spent the winter in the desert this year, I realized the temperature outdoors matters very little to my inner landscape. Winter is winter, and dormancy is dormancy.
And Spring?
There are no daffodils or crocuses resurrecting from the stony ground of our little snowbird home. Yet the ground of my heart is softening to welcome SPRING.

Does your mind, body, and spirit also mirror nature’s cycles?

Right where I am, I am exploring new avenues of healing, expanding, and liberating. Does that sound like a tall order? It is. Definitely not a journey for the timid.
Is Courage the Most Important Virtue?

A year ago, I had no idea what challenges lie ahead…it is still quite dazzling to think I survived those months of physical pain and emotional upheaval.

Don’t give up, friends. Fighting looks different for each of us. I’m not yet a picture of health. I’m still full of knots that are slowly coming undone in important ways.

I am in awe and only want to grow more and help others along. There is a growing uncertainty pervading all of modern life, and I sense it is more important than ever to rise in consciousness and become equipped for what lies ahead..

Will a Walk Transform You?
If you are physically able, perhaps it’s time to make walking in nature a priority. It’s my things. It alters: muscle tone, mood, perspective, digestion, blood pressure, anxiety, and spirit.

I have wonderful walking buddies, but life is busy for most of us so I cannot rely on company. Walking in silence or while listening to podcasts is a balm too.
I love listening to PULLING THE THREAD and to any number of lectures on YouTube.
If you are unfamiliar with the work of poet, theologian, and healer Pádraig Ó Tuama, you are in for a treat!
Walk Your Prayers
Being outdoors in nature helps most of us sink into our hearts. I love embodied prayer, and there are endless variations.
Here’s a sweet piece on the topic.

You can even drive your prayers! Doctor appointments, work commutes, and road trips are oppotunities to commune with God turn a dreaded trip into something sacred.
In case you love spring tulips…
We’ll continue this springtime exploration in my next post!
Peace to you right where you are.
