If you read part one right here, it is clear my concerns about the acceptance of “real enough” are only intensifying. Whether the topic is ecology, technology or social connections, shifts in consciousness matter. I’m not suggesting I have reconciled all this in my own life. Unless we honor the real over virtual (i.e. endangered species), our behaviors will not protect it. How does such concern relate to interiors inspiration? No idea whether architect Jeffrey Dungan has similar worry; I only know that for me there is healing hidden in art. These artful Jeffrey Dungan Architecture Favs transcend the “real enough.”

Sacred Listening
Dungan says it is important to listen to a site for instructions for the design. We tend to think of contemplative listening as airy, abstract territory, but an architect works with matter and mathematics. They create structure to organize and balance. What beauty arises from deep listening and consent?

Can viewing timeless design or fine art be a form of meditation? It certainly feeds my senses and soul.

Jeffrey Dungan Architectural Authenticity
What will help us listen better and preserve our humanity as the rising noise of modern culture threatens to stop the music?

The path of return to the melody for me has been daily practice.

Daily renewal. A daily YES to the invitation of an infinite ever-flowing source of Goodness.

No matter how life twists and turns, I am drawn to a timeless store of Mystery and divine love flowing.

Even after all these years, I remain awed that there is a flow flowing, that I am welcome to join it.

Yet even after all these years of practice, I remain prone to wander and forget!

Is wandering a wonder too!?! My wandering reveals I am free to choose Love or that which is not love. Free to offer consent and choose with each arriving moment.

What love is so generous and liberating as to keep flowing and offering invitations anew?
Kitchen With Earthy Elegance from Jeffrey Dungan Architects
As artificial everything peremeates every layer of media and culture these days, I giggle when followers mistake the real for virtual fantasy.

Sometimes the real is more sculpted and dreamlike than we can imagine!

Designs in nature are an awesome wonder in that way.

The pared down elegance of this architect’s aesthetic seems always to be echoing nature’s wisdom.

Endless opportunities to play with light and form show up in the work.

Also scale!

The architect shared these reflections a few seasons ago…

“I get really into the details of the homes we do with our creative team and clients and love all the collaborations.

Some moments are the big ones we obsess over…

but I also love the little moments…

where it’s more quiet and the light moves in a certain way.”

Architectural Movement & Moments of Quiet Beauty

Dungan’s work somehow reflects what I would describe as gentle hidden grandeur.

I’m breathing Southwest air as I type this where the wonder of deep canyons and breathtaking mountainscapes sculpt my inner landscape. You can’t help but feel more connected to cosmic beauty here.

The grandeur of our planet, galaxy, and universe shimmers with what so many of us long for…majesty.

Just our being here is one majestic miracle.

We easily forget the miracle, busying ourselves to avoid stillness and quiet.

We need the artist, the poet, the philosopher, the ethicist, the theologian, and the listening architect.

How will we listen more closely, see more clearly, and slow our pace to join gentle grandeur scattered all around?
