Gentle afternoons with mild temperatures and warm breezes are hard to beat. While my energy is low, assorted vascular issues decorate the day, and I’m foggy (hello, incoming migraine) a lounge chair and a book are calling. Fall is here. I know this since I have visited the apple orchard four times and enjoyed the best Zestar, Honeycrisp, and Blondees. (See me this time last year HERE). How about you? Are there stacked pumpkins on your porch steps? Fragrant muffins and crisps baking in the oven? Imagining about autumnal tablescapes? It’s never a bad time to cozy on down, dream a little, and savor AUTUMN wonders and comforts because the season seems never to stretch wide enough.

Autumn Wonders, Comforts & Inspo from Creatives
Candlelit Autumn Wonders
Here’s a fall candle to enjoy from BE STILL CANDLE. The white wood dough bowl looks lovely anywhere you place it. Pour in the candle beads, slip in an included wick, and add the included selenite crystal to elevate the effect. Even if you aren’t a woo woo crystal-kid, you can’t argue with the calm!
Here it is on the kitchen table:
Even the pouch for storing the supply of candle beads/pearls is beautiful. Press play to see it glowing in the dappled daylight:
Extra special? This small business is proudly Mexican and female-owned. What a lovely way to support BE STILL CANDLE and Hispanic Heritage!
Inspiration from Creatives for Cues
What to do if you find you are one pricey antique tapestry with exquisite cozy fall colors short?

Hmmmmm. There are possibilities within reach:

And don’t forget about DIYs that have a cozy, understated, homey feel. Did you see my pressed flowers HERE? I think my favorite autumn glimpses are less contrived, natural ones where you can’t detect styling at all.

Let’s start our cozy comfort train with this farmhouse cherished by its owners:
Oh that barn! Wouldn’t it be amazing to have one specifically for entertaining and occasions?

What fond, magical memories I hold dear of so many autumns in the orchard with our sons.

Were you ever instructed about the proper way to pluck an apple from the tree?

Me? Yes, madame.

Hold the apple softly in your paw; twist gently.

Since we still have a few days before the official start of FALL, maybe we could begin to consider how our inner landscape reflects a seasonal change.

Savor Autumn Wonder: Ideas for Homes & Hearts
I wonder what fruits of a multiplied harvest we may be enjoying?

What have we been cultivating? And what may require pruning?

Maybe we can begin to set intentions for the season ahead as well. What would you like to give yourself to this autumn? How would you like your life to feel in the coming weeks?

I am feeling drawn to longer walks on paths new to me. And also to slowing all my tasks intentionally to live within a luxurious pace of embodied daily living. Left to my own devices, I can easily become a floating head, lost in ideas and what-could-bes instead of here and now.
Our bodies are counting on us to listen to them.
Fall often feels like a brand new year to me. How about you? Is it a sort of reset and chance to take inventory?

Interior Seasonal Changes
My physical energy dwindles in autumn, while my creative urges increase. I must be very very patient and mindful with these shifts. A few tasks checked off the list each day? Doesn’t feel as though I’m killin it, but there is much more to life.

Do you also feel connected to nature’s cycles? Would you say your mood, outlook, and energies transform as the harvest moon rises?
My dream for our secret courtyard in the rear of our property was to plan casual harvest dinners there. Appetizer potlucks were always a favorite. But so much has changed for us as emptynesters in recent years. Local friends retired, moved away, and passed away. I have also seen others’ interest in gathering at home dwindle.
Even the simplest of harvest dinners are the best! Chili, homemade bread, and apple crisp? Yes, please. Serve cocktails, mocktails, maybe a caramel apple sangria:

Please don’t ever expect my set table to be this elegant:
I’m not one who devotes days to tablescapes…rather, they are spontaneous last minute random creations, using what I have. However, I am on board with laboring over a recipe for a week to perfect it for you, layering in extra love.
Autumnal Cozy at Home
You will rarely find russet tones or orange anything at my house even in autumn, but I love seeing pumpkin spice elsewhere.

Knowing yourself and understanding how color influences you emotionally is so important. It’s why we were willing to laboriously erase brown and red to lighten the color story here at the Georgian. The more of it we subtracted, the lighter and more at home we felt within these rooms.

Oh, my little maid’s tub at our former house! While it was sweet to behold, I much prefer our new vintage tub which is standard size! The water remains warm, and my husband made a sweet bath tray to hold my potions.
As pretty as golden leaves are, we do not at all miss raking days!

So very effortlessly elegant.

Her tablescapes never fail to take my breath away.

Nora Murphy Country House
I’ll never forget the delight of cracking open my copy of this author’s book which is an absolute treasure.

Nora’s former house was such a picture of country goodness:

Calorie-Free Virtual Fall Comfort Food
I may have already baked banana bread twice this week! And I should mention I can’t eat my yummy sourdough bread…it is shared with friends and neighbors. What will you bake?
Apple crisp is calling to me.

I recall the declaration of my pal Elizabeth of Pinecones and Acorns that apple crisp is a health food, and I’m quite sure she has confirmed that with science and the proper authorities. 🙂
I hope you don’t plan to debate the issue with me. 🙂
*steps away from desk to check pantry for apple crisp ingredients*

I’m so glad this lovely food blogger book worm takes the time to create delightful tablescapes through the seasons. Of course, pulling off a “simple” look is typically not all that simple.

I have soooooo much respect for stylists!

My Petite Maison
So happy I’m in good company when it comes to adoration for a pale palette even in autumn.
Tracie of My Petite Maison shares the most meditative, serene, pure inspiration in any season.

I spy so much mystery, mercy, and magic within her French Nordic vignettes and everyday glimpses of home.

Velvet and Linen’s Earthy Organic Cozy Factor
Brooke’s feed, Velvet and Linen is a timeless, enchanting and enduring delight.

It is possible I could get through Mondays and Wednesdays without video clips of her pygmy goats and pigs in Patina Land.
But I simply don’t want to.

What a joy it will be to visit Patina Home & Garden again soon.

Vintage Chic & Le Cultivateur’s Cozy
Le Cultivateur is the feed of a talented stylist cultivating simple beauty from her home and the fruit of the everyday.
