First things first. SEPHORA shopping online is convenient for me, and maybe the time is ripe to try assorted beauty you have been eyeing. Most of the time, you can return what doesn’t work.
Wayfair In Spite of the Unfairly Lame Campaigns
I was super late to the party which is shopping Wayfair for homewares. And I still blame unfortunate television commercials broadcasting a less than appealing aesthetic. I scratch my head and think ‘who is this demographic you are trying to capture?’ Maybe I’m the fool and the whole aim is to disarm me. But you would never guess from TV ads there are seasoned, tasteful, high quality makers in their family of brands.
Annoying jingles, ice cream trucks, and odd characters dancing badly (don’t get me started on those Big Pharma horrendous dance numbers in commercials) inspire me to turn the channel. But YES. Wayfair features trusted sources of lovely (Pine Cone Hill? Schumacher? Hooker?).
Here’s a sample of what I found:

Update For a Powder Room

We need new towels and bath mats – why is it that a visit from in-laws or a move always magnifies how pathetic and nearly threadbare all your linens are?
And we’ll need sconces for a few places here. I like simple, traditional, timeless styled fixtures that don’t shout 1992…
Carrera Marble Tile
I’m still obsessed with white marble everything these days, and this house just wants it everywhere so I continue to listen: Here’s the tile we almost went with for our bath:
Honeycomb tile is so classic and timeless and feels home-y to me. Ever since we bought our very first 1920s house in Chicago, we have loved us some honeycomb.
Not that there’s anything wrong with basketweaved carrera! Gorgeous!
And the price is gorgeous too:

We never tire of this pattern, have always loved living with it, and you may recall that when I was chronicling our renovation in 2015, This Old House pinned our shower floor, and it went viral! I was so new to social media and could not comprehend that our under-construction shower floor was on every bathroom Pinterest board.

Tables With a Marble Top
While I’m not unhappy with our current everyday round dining table, I know I would love it topped with marble. But have you ever secured a quote for a custom marble tabletop!?!
It’s enough to make you wanna buy new:
Sometimes a faux marble look for certain things just makes good sense.
For example, if you like the look of marble and need decorative shelves for an office or kids room, the weight of real stone is probably less desirable.
Something like these below makes sense because though they’re suggestive of marble, they won’t leave your wall in a crumbly mess and are safer for rambunctious wall-scaling minors.
Table Lamps With Marble Ideas
These caught my eye since I’m introducing gold to some of my interiors.
I can see them in an entry, on a dining room buffet, and even on a kitchen counter:
I was recently on the hunt for marble bedside lamps, and they can get pricey. Sometimes a ceramic lamp base can give you the same feel of marble for a fraction of the price.
Rugs & Floor Mats
I have not bought rugs in years! Since I still need one near the front door, for a bedroom, in bathrooms, etc. it’s time to shop. And even though we moved to this house with a bunch of neutral furnishings and accessories, many of them just. don’t. work.
This new house clearly wants cool tones.
This rug below has muted neutral tones and a low low price. Seems like it would be just right as an accent in a range of different bedrooms even though it’s not gonna be thick and sumptuous.
I’m always on the lookout for cordless lamps so this one from Wayfair caught my eye. There are plenty of situations where you just don’t want an ugly cord showing.
I’m also a fan of modern lighting, and this one has a unique profile:
That said, I have never met a pharmacy lamp I didn’t love. My parents loved ’em so they remind me of home:
Psst. Shopping for homewares and DIY renovation supplies means deliveries. And all of the deliveries can become a massive cardboard mountain rising to the limits in the garage
Consequently, my husband and I become more giddy than I can say each week on garbage/recycling day.
Hahahaha. Thank goodness we have each other on this strange journey.
