When I consider the most serene celestial interior vibes, I imagine white painted floors, a mix of antiques, airy spare rooms with unfussy interiors, and natural light streaming through undressed windows, warming the composition. We’re spotlighting a mix of dreamy all white interiors with French Nordic cottage style and beyond.

All White Interiors
Eclectic All White Interiors
While you might instantly think of a particular designer known for a love of white or a specific decor style such as shabby chic, all white works across a variety of design styles.
Luxurious marble bathrooms, warm ethereal kitchens…
and cozy country cottage living rooms can feel timeless and layered though restrained.

We all have varying tolerances for white. I have no trouble living with a sea of white whether it’s a big harvest table with only a bit of greenery…

or white blooms on a white table…

or even house exteriors where not even shutters contrast with the siding.

Safe or bold? For me, white needs no qualification or justification beyond “works for me.” Such questions feel irrelevant and frankly, more of a gimmicky marketing tool than a constructive guide for designing soulfully.
French Nordic Country Cottage
Is this the coziest way to live with all white decor at home? Because the ethereal goodness inside Tracie’s cottage exudes humble elegance and makes a case for it.

My Petite Maison’s photography, instagram, and shop are a lovely white wonderland celebrating French Nordic sensibilities.

Because of her uncluttered style, it is clear what she loves and collects.

Vintage furniture, white accessories, ironstone, blush pink roses, European accessories.

Some claim an all white or mostly white decor scheme is playing it safe, but I disagree.

Getting white right is a risky balancing act.

Sophisticated simplicity with white often entails considerable effort and restraint.

Texture, character, architecture, and balance must be achieved without the personality, tension, and help of contrasting colors.

Since this homeowner also sells what she collects, she gets a fresh look by rotating pieces.

What’s your take? Are you someone who can hunt down favorite pieces only to eventually sell them to seek new ones?

White on White in a Country Cottage
There’s such a humility to how this creative homeowner decorates and lives.

The Swedes I have known tend to be sensible and skilled at restraint…qualities reflected here.

Don’t you love the ease of living with breezy white? It feels clean because it IS clean. Fabrics can be bleached, and stains are easy to spot and remedy.

If you love European country whites that improve with age, dings and little mishaps only strengthen the look.

Collections With White

Do you collect for color? Because I gravitate toward white objects.

Even humble objects of the same color take on dramatic appeal when grouped together.

Notice how My Petite Maison collects for color, and the effect is dreamy romance.

While the MyPetiteMaison Etsy shop may not be currently stocked, I find inspiration from even past items she offered.

Mixing Textures in an All White Scheme
Notice just how many different textures lend beauty to this cottage:

Nubby linens, tufting in upholstery, glossy paint, diaphonous sheer fabric with lace, wood, and porcelain…

It truly is a subtle mixing of varied textures (for example the velvety softness of roses with rustic stoneware) that turns up the pretty romance.

And how precious is a single rose in a sugar bowl or old jam jar? The upside to living in an old cottage with low ceilings and cozy room sizes? Little details can speak.

Even pricey, rare imported antiques from Northern Europe can be enjoyed everyday in a humble, hands-on manner.

I love how un-self-conscious these spaces feel.

It has become more difficult over the years to NOT feel self-conscious when you have a presence on social media.

If ever you wonder why I don’t take more photos of my own interiors, it isn’t that I don’t enjoy them.

It is that a bit of the joy gets lost if my efforts are to post a styled photo to be consumed rather than to simply be enjoyed.

Loving your decor is the reward, not a number of likes or accolades from online responders.

Is it Hard Living With All White?
I’m sure you have read countless times that interior designers enjoy living with neutrals and white since they work with color all day. So why creative types quickly tire of color? Part of the answer is how neutrals offer ease for creativity since schemes can easily be rearranged. For some of us, we don’t ever want our spaces to feel finished or perfect. It’s that fluidity and evolution that keeps us dreaming and scheming.

What’s your take? Do you enjoy an ever-evolving look space more than a solidly done one?
