When does your Christmas tree go up? For certain Christmas fanatics (I’m lookin’ at YOU, mama), it is about trees, plural, and one or more of those trees may have never been taken down. Hahahaha. We need all types, yes? My mama lives for decorating her trees, and me? I’m totally satisfied with just the little white lights. Thank goodness creatives around the globe share holiday decorated spaces each year so we may return to them for inspiration. This Rustic Elegant Christmas Inspo introduces earthy yet elegant vignettes, ideas for DIY, and rustic winter holiday decor wonder.

Rustic Elegant Christmas Inspo
Made this just for you:
Holiday Mountain Chic in Montana
I’ll never forget picking up Elle Decor years ago and seeing this holiday project by Ken Fulk! Talk about a luxurious fantasy of a Montana Christmas!
I recall feeling stunned by some of the sources for that design project. From high end to very low (i.e. the ottomans may have been found at Costco), it was certainly an eclectic mix.
While most of won’t ever have such access to a Yellowstone resort-level luxe or a mountain chalet to decorate, there are takeaways all the same.
For example, the bunk room below reminded me of the sweet little handcrafted wood children’s table and chairs our sons enjoyed throughout childhood. How special to bring it out of storage and decorate it for the season.
Also inspired to consider a wintry bonfire outside with our simple firepit (we only have the faux fireplace in our courtyard and not a real one here).
Have a chandelier to adorn with bits of evergreen branches (maybe boxwood sprigs from the yard) or faux berries?
For plenty of us, taxidermy is out, but I’m noticing how cheerful white blooms look with the greenery.
Is it truly as simple as a faux fur throw and simple garland draped near a bed? Lovin those rustic elegant Christmas cozy vibes in here.
Rustic Elegant Christmas Ideas
Fresh Greenery + Brown Paper Packages
Isn’t this stunning? Gaze at what may work from your own backyard. Even herbs such as rosemary, boxwood sprigs or magnolia leaves could join the mix too.
Cinnamon sticks and star anise? So classic.
The Simplicity & Elegance of Berries
Isn’t this pop of red from cheerful berries on a neutral table sweet?
Birch Embellishments
They’re beautiful on a tree as-is, but aren’t they also just perfect for place settings or gifts to simply embellish?
If you are craving fireplace cozy vibes, what about this idea below? A faux birch log arrangement may work in the simplest of DIY faux fireplace boxes. Such a clean look.
Book Page DIY Wonder
Big fan of all things book page craft! Remember our former kitchen with simple cottagey Christmas touches?
Ever make paper cone wreaths?
So many places you can hang them. I need to make more!
So many variations!
I have always dreamed of having a plate rack like this…how ’bout you? At least we can make the simple cones!
Candle Spinner
I remember these at my childhood home where my folks always decorated with Scandinavian style.
Stovetop Instant Charm Maker
Don’t you love it when decoration has purpose?
Minimal Hoop Wreath DIY
You can’t beat a timeless Scandi style hoop wreath that will not seem dated years from now!
Wonky Birch Whimsy
I love the playfulness and childlike vibe of these wonky trees.
Cozy White Advent Calendar
I cherish our galvanized metal house-shaped advent calendar and look forward to displaying it every year. But when the house-shaped calendar is also cozily lit? So good.
Citrusy Sweet Christmas
Decorating with food is always a great idea: platters of gingerbread cookies, frosted cakes on pedestals, bowls of pears or green apples, and of course, pomanders!
See scrumptious inspiration with citrus Scandi magic in THIS!
Remember you don’t have to be a baker…you can decorate store bought cookies too!
My favorite readymade cookies to decorate? The Swedish ones on this board that come in a tin you’ll want to save:
Jingle All the Way
Christmas bells are so traditional and work so well with earthy rustic cozy holiday schemes.
Table for Two
Why aren’t we doing this all winter long? Set a wee table for two for dinner with candles, a simple earthy touch, and even a wrinkly tablecloth for complete ease if you’re short on time.
With the sun setting so early, why not celebrate it with cozy candle lit dining every single dang night?
Moss + Candle for Organic Cozy
Tuck moss into simple glass jars or zinc planters to support taper candles. Boom.
Modern Reindeers
They work well in more is more rooms as well as with minimal designs where they can become a focal point.
Aren’t these “soft sculptures” beyond special?
Petite Trees
For some, it’s colorful pops and sparkling everything, but for me quietly understated neutrals on a tree speak volumes.
Clear Glass Jars
If you’ll recall, I have a problem with saving every clear glass jar (pasta sauce, pickles, etc) like a depression-era granny. There’s never a shortage of them for lining a window sill. I tuck votives inside these jars all winter. Sometimes I’ll even cushion a votive with flour or sugar for the suggestion of snow.
Showcase a Lovely Branch
Instead of tossing it in a vase or urn, try placing a pretty branch on the wall for a very natural and non-contrived look.
Make Cardamom Buns, Hun!
OOOOOHHHHH, I can smell almost them baking!
Cozy Recipes for Cozy Toasty Nights
No, this drink is not likely to show up in my own tumbler this holiday season. This cranky panky looked okay on a recent scan, but I don’t wanna make it work hard! But the idea of the roasted marshmallow kebab on top. Me likey. You?
Nordic Artist youtube Goddess
If you know Sweden’s Jonna Jinton, you just KNOW. She is an artist inspired by the loveliness of her environment. (Who knew ice makes sounds like this!?!)
